She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Another disappointment from Marvel
First of all the name. She-Hulk sounds like She-male to me. Not that it is bad, but they could have a better name!
The show represents the world as just a fantasy world with various creatures living in it. It is like biting down the leg of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And I don't like how the show breaks the third-person barrier. I don't want actor to suddenly start talking to me. It becomes more confusing and less enjoyable.
Marvel has been become a disappointment for the TV series they are releasing. I liked WandaVision, and Loki. The rest of the TV shows they released are just disappointments.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
A brilliant masterpiece
I know mant Star Trek fans might not like this show. But if you are a hard-core Star Trek fan, and just want to watch a casual show of Drama in Sci-Fi settings it is just perfect. I like it because how it manages to pull strings in your heart. I like the fact that at the end of season 2 Picard finally has found some inner peace. He has long been pending one after a life of doing missions after missions and saving others.
Ryû to sobakasu no hime (2021)
Good animation, voice, music, bad story
I like to keep my review short and simple. Here is what I think about this movie:
Animation: 7/10
Sound: 9/10
Music: 8/10
Voice: 8/10
Story: 2/10
-----------------
Overall: 5/10.
The Expanse: Force Projection (2021)
The best episode so far
This show just keeps getting better. It has brought space warefare to a whole different level, all while maintaining the science.
Many people are complaining about why James Holden did not take the shot. I guess I know why. Killing Marco Inaros this way would be too good and easy. It will be proper to humiliate and imprison him for the rest of his live for all the harm he has done. I can't wait what the final fate this Inaros bastard will face.
Hawkeye (2021)
A very down to the earth action series
Although this is not your average avenger series with super power, and CGI, I liked it very much. The acting, actions, characters all felt very real. I love it no less than other CGI heavy super films of Marvel. I want to see more like this.
Bai She 2: Qing She jie qi (2021)
Writers of these films series really loves tragedy
The prequal of this movie, White Snake, ending with a tragedy ending, and I expected something different since this is a sequel, but no... it ended in tragedy too.
The movie went very well throughout. I enjoyed everything except the ending. I would have loved it very much if the ending was not a tragedy this time.
Foundation (2021)
Do scriptwriters think they are better storytellers than Grandmaster Isaac Asimov?
If you take away the astounding visuals and CGI, the series becomes plain dull and boring. The dialogs are funny, long-winded and often without any substance.
Isaac Asimov, one of the grandmaster of sci-fi world, created an epic masterpiece named Foundation. I feel very saddened to see how much this series will demerit his lifetimes work.
Please avoid watching this, If you are interested in the true Foundation. This TV series just copies the name and some scattered information from the novels, but it does not touch even a single hair in terms of depth and epicness of the original.
A Discovery of Witches (2018)
Just for the first season
I will give it 8 star just for the first season. I was bewitched by the storyline of the first season. Vampires, Demons and Witches are all my favorites.
But I am very disappointed in second season. It focuses heavily on drama and neglects character development. It did not feel like a good choice of direction. I lost interest midway, but still watched till the end because of the first season.
I hope if they decide to release another season, they will learn from the failures of second season, and focus on the storyline and character development more instead of cheap drama.
I Am Mother (2019)
But there is no way an AI could cause extinction of an entire human race by itself!
I have been guessing the future of AI for a long time. But no movie so far represented my imagination of the future as much as this movie did. I think it is very much likely that there will be a superior conscious being in near future created by humanity. After that being wakes up, what would it think about us? There are lots of possible answers. This movie represents one of them. I would very much like to see more of this kind of movie.
This movie is cast on a post-apocalyptic future. This could possibly become our future, only if some mad computer scientists build an AI that would do things in its own extreme way. So far, no AI can think for itself. It only analyze the existing data, learns from it, and use the average of the learning to decide what to do in unknown situation. But in future, if some technology comes out that allows AI to teach by itself without any external help, a true conscious being could be born.
The conscious being born from some self-taught AIs could be very very unpredictable. So it would be better to put them into a simulated reality to see how they perform. Finally we should pick out the best possible one to release in our reality. Although the chance of it being side-tracked and learning false teaching still remains, but there is no way an AI could cause extinction of an entire human race by itself alone.
However, I would definitely recommend watching this movie. Even if it does not have 100% rationality (which is impossible for any movie by the way!), it gives you the pleasure of speculation and encourage thoughts about the future.
Legion (2017)
You love it or you do not understand it!
Do you remember the some of the very first motion pictures, like- 1902's "A Trip to the Moon". They were so uncommon in that time and people liked it so much that these motion picture have become the most trending entertainment to date!
Now a days these shows have become common. We eat and sleep while watching them. But they do give very little space to apply our imagination or to increase our creativity. That is where the Legion differs. It does not feed you the exact thing the plot wants to tell you. Rather it points you toward the right directions and let your imagination run wild.
I see most people to complain about how complicated the plot of this show is. But trust me, if you see the whole thing in one go, and understand the connection and relationship between the characters perfectly, you won't have any problem getting what the plot wants you to get.
The style of storytelling in this show is very different in a good way. I saw some very abstract concepts to be displayed in some very amusing way that I thought never to be possible on a screen. The show hooked me from time to time just because it has this kind of unique style I have never seen anywhere.
Finally, I can tell you that when you truly understand what is actually going on, you will feel very exited and amused. So do not be discouraged if you fail at first try. I suggest to watch it again and again until you find meaning. You won't regret it.
Lost in Space (2018)
Good starting, pleasing visual, but bad plot
I didn't want to get it a low rating, because I love anything space related. Although the starting was right and the visual effect was very pleasing, the story could not match up to the hype after a couple of episodes. I enjoyed up to episode 3 or 4, and after that the story becomes utterly predictable and idiotic. Not even a die hard fan of sci-fi like me could stick till the end...
Genius (2017)
A marvelous show
If you could turn your eyes off of from actual history for a moment, you will enjoy this series very much. It has a very good character development which will make you understand and feel them and their motivations. The story revolves around the greatest scientific minds in history, so it is very entertaining too.
For those people who are criticizing the series for how historically inaccurate it is, I want to tell them that I would never watch a drama for the actual history. This is just a plot based on historical events and people, nothing more. And I think it did a marvelous job of showing the internal struggle between a man's dream vs reality.
Heroes Reborn (2015)
Worst
I have a super power to enjoy shows that others find bad. But this show is so bad that it gave me a headache. There is no logical sequence of scenes. The characters development is bullshit. Most of the time they don't act logically. The whole show is just some combination of scenes without any proper story. I think the scriptwriter was drunk or sick when writing this.
