Highway is yet another heartfelt poetry from Imtiaz Ali. He has again proved why he is one of the best visionary directors India has right now. This time he takes us to a awe-inspiring journey throughout India with rugged crook Mahaveer and twinkly Veera, played by very talented Randeep Hooda and charismatic Alia Bhatt respectively. Alia Bhatt especially stands out with her amazing character driven performance while Randeep Hooda delivers a restrained performance. The movie is filled with overwhelming moments and amazing visuals. A.R. Rahman's music contributes to the story like a perfect companion. Overall it's an amazing film that must be experienced. I'll go with the rating of 4 on 5.

Chennai Express (2013)

Chennai Express is the story of Rahul and Meena, who meet on a train, and how the journey affects their lives.

When I went to watch Chennai Express, I had in my mind that it was a Rohit Shetty movie and hence it couldn't be very good. I knew it could be highly nonsensical. I just hoped it would've a sensible plot. And I am glad to say it does have a sensible plot. It's little forced and unconvincing at times, but it's extremely entertaining. This is the story of Rahul, played by Shah Rukh Khan, who isn't satisfied with his life. His life takes a turn, when he meets Meena, played by Deepika Padukone, on Chennai Express. In following events, the movie shifts to South India of amazingly beautiful locations and significantly developed villages. The movie though keeps delivering hilarious punches, the story gets a bit stagnant. Meanwhile the two songs, "Titli" and "Tera Rasta Chodoon Na" lend movie the romantic texture. The fighting sequence was realistic and hence very unlike the Rohit Shetty films. Talking about acting, this isn't how I would like Shah Rukh Khan to act but then it is that kind of film. Deepika Padukone is amazing in her portrayal of a Tamil girl. The music by Vishal-Shekhar is quite decent. Rohit Shetty's direction seems evolved and I think this is his best film by now. He hasn't been very good with his movies' endings but this one has a fine climax that leaves us with a smile on our face. I'll go with 7 on the scale of 10.

Kai Po Che (2013)

Kai Po Che is the story of three friends set in Gujarat. It is based on Chetan Bhagat's best-selling novel "Three Mistakes of my Life".

Director Abhishek Kapoor has rubbed his ROCK ON magic on KAI PO CHE. This story touches you more than even the novel, it's based on. The plot is set in Gujarat and involves some really defining actual events. All three leading actors have played their characters to perfection creating some really engrossing moments. The friendship element is very Indian. COVER DRIVE never looked as defining. But come on man, why would you kill _____! Amit Trivedi has given complimenting music to the story. "Maanjha" song is especially delighting and has some extraordinary visuals. The movie is an emotionally moving ride. I'll go with 4 on 5. You must watch it.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is based on the life of Milkha Singh. It focuses on his athletic career along with the India-Pakistan partition that influenced his life.

The story of Flying Sikh Milkha Singh's life has been translated fantastically in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. I wonder why we didn't have a movie made on his life in all these years. Anyways the film, though quite long, has all the elements that engross you in the story till the very end. Farhan Akhtar has seeped in his character very convincingly. Shankar Ehsaan Loy have created complimenting music to the story and the background score is very striking in the partition scenes and Milkha growing up scene. Director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra has delivered another heart-touching film after Rang De Basanti. Last but not the least I must mention the cinematographer Binod Pradhan for those absolutely delighting slow motion shots. I'll go with 4/5 and I insist you watch this movie.

Robber (I) (2013)

Lootera is a love story set in India of 1950s.

‪Lootera‬ is a fine portrayal of Old School Romance. It is set in India of 1950s when Zameendari system was abolished. Both actors, ‪‎Ranveer‬ and ‪Sonakshi‬ have delivered a commendable performance. The story glides smoothly through Amit Trivedi's melodious music. It gets a bit slow in fragments and has it's share of loopholes but manages to strike a chord in the end. Vikramaditya Motwani tells another gem of a story after "Udaan". Dialogues written by Anurag Kashyap are amusing at places. Cinematographer of movie has also done a commendable job as he captures some really picturesque scenes shot in Dalhousie. It has logical drawbacks but deserves to be seen at least once. I'll go with 3.5/5.
