Irma Vep (2022)
Love it
I loved the first episode. I've been a big fan of Assayas for decades. His aesthetics seemingly align and influence my perspectives. His work feels incredibly personal and abundantly youthful. Self referential by nature, his inner influences are at play and the dynamics and how they effortlessly shift tone at the drop of a hat is really magical to watch. I can't wait to see how Alica Vikander handles the mysticism of the role, its history and the inevitable unraveling of its tantamount pressure.
Station Eleven (2021)
The book was beautiful
As someone whom had read the book, I'm finding everything to have rang true thus far in its adaptation for screen. I enjoy the slow burn aspects. It's thoughtful, considerate and its tapestry/aesthetic has woven quite effortlessly.

Uninteresting
I'm left kind of muddled over the experience. The sum didn't quite come to equal the parts. I appreciate and love the nod to the exploitation genre of yesterday, but I did not find myself particularly interested. Twitter as an application and mode of telling innovative enthralling and creative stories, however is interesting to me. The film, for me, though did not translate into something that for me felt compelling and entertaining.
