Tequila (2011)
Passion, drama and tension as never was shown in Mexican Cinema
The passion, tragedy and drama as ever was in the Golden Cine Mexicano. Sergio Suarez film surprised me since I saw the first cut, I can even say that all who were present at that first screening (including who would later be responsible for the score, Carlos Silotto), we knew we were facing a film that would to talk about. The perfect arrangement of its moments of drama, tension and even a pinch of humor of certain episodes, achieve an honest job, entertaining and essential to be seen by those who appreciate good films. Tequila, the drink, is undoubtedly a symbol of pride and national Mexican identity, a thing that a proud Mexican show off every where, and I'm sure the same thing will happen with the film. As with the drink, the film will make, after tasting it, the viewer goes out from the theatre with a very happy soul.
Flags of Our Fathers (2006)
Private Ryan with flags
The beginning of the movie remembers Saving Private Ryan: big action in the first minute that last until the 20th. One can easy suppose that the explanation of this is because Spielberg is the executive producer of Flags of... Another truth is this: while we are watching the story of the soldiers on the states, what we are really waiting is the plot to go back to the fight. The battle is intense, real, with a different approach on this kind of movies, that comes from putting the cameras on the Japanese soldiers perspective. This is what makes feel the audience how easy the American soldiers can die, how fragile the lives of the men on the beach are. Even when the film repeats some of the common places of war movies, Flags of our fathers worth the ticket.
