Cobra Kai (2018)
Was all in season 1... But has gone down hill since
I'm all for nostalgia and teenage drama but I am not into over the top, unrealistic dog crap. The first season was fun. The second season was good until that school fight where no teachers were around, some were being assaulted etc and the rest has just become more convoluted and over the top. Season 4 with the dance fighting, Miguel's standing quadruple axle fail, and cringe worthy dialogue have really made this show a joke. Let's hope some things get cleaned up.
Cobra Kai: Party Time (2021)
Cringe worthy at its highest
Dance fighting, then everyone starts laughing like nothing happened. Torie and Robby learning perfect choreography at the prom with no practice, Sam and Miguel's cringe responses throughout the episode. This one sucked big time.
Boku no hîrô akademia: My Hero (2018)
One of the best anime episodes I've ever seen
35 year old male and this episode made me feel like an excited 15 year old. You get a 10 star when you make me feel like that. This ranks up there with some of the best anime episodes all time that I've seen (One Punch Man final two episodes, Attack On Titan - take your pick on which episode you found best), etc.
Hawkeye: So This Is Christmas? (2021)
Like fumbling on the 1 yard line
I get this show is supposed to be more of a family funny type but when we are talking about Yelena trying to get to Clint for her sisters demise why and the heck is she and Kate Bishop having a half ass comedy fight on the way to finding him? Her sister died and she wants to kill Clint... Nothing really funny about that situation so I felt that whole portion of this show was completely wrong in terms of tone. Florence Pugh is a star in the making and her character deserved better than how they portrayed her at times throughout.
Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
All In
What the heck did I just watch?? The first two episodes I was feeling like I got dooped due to the slower pace and world building of so many characters I knew nothing about... And then the 3rd episode happened. What a master craft of visuals, story, heart, real world issues, action, and my lord the sound track is phenomenal.
All in for season 2!
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Let there be Cringe!
The moment the film began and the horrible acting starts things off in the wrong direction for the rest of the film. Eddie and Venom's banter back and forth are the only redeeming qualities of this horrible stinker. Mid credit scene is amazing like everyone else says but it doesn't excuse this crap we just watched.
What If...?: What If... The Watcher Broke His Oath? (2021)
This show is Canon...
So no the infinity stones shouldn't work in other universes. Videos all of over YouTube stated that what if started writing this stuff before Loki was finished so when the TVA scene dropped the bomb on us all that these things are paper weights outside of their universes it discredited this whole two episode what if extravaganza... Which sucks. But this show and Loki are Canon so we have a problem...
What If...?: What If... Ultron Won? (2021)
Blew the Canon out of the water
"The thing is, the multiverse that we're observing in What If...? Is supposed to be the same multiverse that spilled out from the end of Loki, right? But Loki established, in one of its great early twists, that the Infinity Stones of one reality are useless outside of that reality. That should mean that Infinity Ultron shouldn't even be able to exist outside of his reality because his brain is powered by the Mind Stone. That's some hyper-focused nerd stuff to point out, but we're talking about What If...? Here, and this show is built to acknowledge and address details like that. It's fudging the established canon of the MCU, and if there's one show that needs to be very careful about doing that, it's this one."
Catastrophe: Episode #4.6 (2019)
What a let down
A finale should leave wondering what's next. They both treated each other so badly in the end just to have them hugging left me angry.
David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020)
Not meant for people who are already aware
I felt like this presentation was beating me over the head with we are the problem, we are going to kill the planet at every waking moment. I already know that, so I felt this wasn't for people who were already aware of the issues. Great footage and obviously his interview was on point as ever.
The King (2019)
Great Drama, iffy action
This film had a lot going for it. Great cast, great acting, wonderful dialogue, and natural lighting based cinematography... And then the 3rd act happened. The battle choreography was sloppy at times, you couldnt tell who was who, and cast members were killed without really showing it. 7/10 for me.
Bo Burnham: Inside (2021)
First time Bo Burnham encounter...WOW!
I won't go very deep into my emotions like some others are but man the song writing and genuine hilarious moments in this special are amazing. I have these songs playing on repeat on screen and in my head well after I'm done watching it. Very highly recommended!
Gokushufudo (2021)
Same crew that ruined the animation of One punch Man
Absolutely hate this team as they really cut corners when it comes to details and making compelling drawings. They burned One Punch Man season 2 into the ground after it's top of the line first season. I knew right away based on the crappy movements and weird sounds effects that it was the same crew. No thanks.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Not my Mortal Kombat
Where to begin... Is it sad that I actually like the flow and story of the 1995 original over this one? Almost seemed like this was a test to see audiences reactions just so they could change things for the sequel (actual tournament). WB made a mistake mandating the Cole Young character and choosing a first time director/screen writer to do this film. Gareth Evans would have done a much better job with this film and he worked with Joe Taslim before on The Raid. I honestly couldn't tell the tone here.. they made this a hard R for the violence (even though it wasn't that violent considering other films out there) yet the storyline and delivery felt like a PG-13 popcorn flick... I have high hopes that this team will do the sequel justice and bring forth a far more valient effort than this one. Mortal Kombat has such great mythology and characters that it deserves be to GREAT, not just average. I'm still waiting for that day to come.
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Generic Film
Visuals are wonderful, but what the visuals provide is seriously lacking in everything else of this film. The jokes are few and far between, the action feels like many films before, and no music to help bring in some extra feeling. 20 minutes in you will be able to predict what will happen for the rest of the film. No risks were taken in this one to make it worth our wild.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Guides (2021)
The Eldians tearing themselves apart from within...
I've watched all 12 episodes now and you have to admit the animation is so jarringly different from the first three seasons that it's very hard to accept. It's not MAPPAS fault and I don't fault them but why allow the change with 1 season left? This episode was a bit dull even though there is a lot of plotting going on. Idk, if you had a problem with GOT jet packing the story then you have a problem with this season skipping past so much detail in the race to the finish line.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Assault (2021)
So much more than the action...
This show has so many threads weaving in and around eachother that parallels with some of the greatest shows of all time. This show could be some dumb mindless action piece but the way they inject the emotional motivations, impacts, and straight up consequences of everyones' actions is what truly sets this show high up on those colossal titans shoulders with ease above everyone else! Well done!
Shingeki no Kyojin: Declaration of War (2021)
You are either the conquerer or the conquered...
Well done! This took a few days to marinate because I was really hyped up about all the 10's flying around and when it wasn't what I was expecting it to be I wanted to make sure I didn't jump to judgement. This was a very good episode. The check coming due for Reiner and all that took everything that Eren held dear is a very sobering yet exciting moment to witness. Well done!
Letterkenny (2016)
Great until season 9
Once you are on board with the humor and characters the show really starts clicking. Their cold opens are legendary at times. Season 9 however appears to have lost that magic big time. Probably covid related in some regards but it is floundering at best. Season 9 cold opens are still hits more often than not but the episodes are about 20 percent shorter and the humorous severely lacking. Show was an 8 for me until season 9.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 10: The Passenger (2020)
Filler episode
This served nothing towards the plot of the show. Great special effects and action but this one was a clunker.
What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
Chuckle here and there but that's about it
I am not sure why this show is so loved. I own and love the movie and laugh hysterically throughout but this show barely gets me to chuckle. I love the sets and the music but the comedy often falls flat.
Mulan (2020)
This is not Mulan remake stop reviewing it as such
Disney has been telling everyone for over a year that this film is not based on the animated version of the 90s. Stop comparing it to that. It's no wonder why they didn't want to release it in theaters because of all the cry babies expecting Mushu and singing. Totally getting an unfair review by about 90 percent of the people on here and that's too bad.
Floor Is Lava (2020)
Fake and stupid
Show is only interesting to small children at best. Scripted back and forth between the contestants that are extremely cringe worthy, no sense of urgency so they can fill the time of the show, people purposefully standing around just to jabber useless information to each other, no announcer actually there and probably just doing voice over. Terrible show.
The Last Dance (2020)
Documentary was more hype than payoff
First of all I am and was the biggest Jordan fan during that era. I had posters, jerseys, trading cards, video games, etc of Michael Jordan on the cover. But the more I watched Michael the more you question his pureness to basketball ( I was 12 when he retired from the Bulls in 98 so I didn't question anything) in which he was willing to do whatever it takes to win. That can be a benefit and a detriment at the same time in how fans can view an athlete as a "good guy" vs a bad one. Some things I even question more now after this is Michael's father's death... I hate I feel this way but his gambling was getting a bit out of control to the point he was probably dropping millions in a short time frame... Queue the mafia plotline... And his infamous flu game in which the more I look at it the more a massive hangover makes the most sense... Drink too much, get hungry, followed by eating way too much before bed. We have all been there before so I don't by the food poising and having 5 people show up at the hotel to deliver one pizza (players use alias' to protect themselves from unwanted attention and Jordan would have been a pro at this going into year 14). Overall love the content but the Krause villain take never really had a climactic point for me it was just merely there and reared its ugly head early in the documentary but in the end Jordan was great and will always be great for what he did on the court and for the world by presenting some of the most dramatic and awe-inspiring performances we will ever see.
Harley Quinn (2019)
Pretty boring and lame jokes
I've tried to keep liking it but there is very little to like in this show. Other than the animators everyone else can go look for another job.
