Peaky Blinders (2013)
Would have been a 9 if it weren't for seasons 5 and 6
For me, Peaky Blinders is just Seasons 1-4. Seasons 5 and 6 feel like they're written by someone else. Just pure and utter garbage. The tone shifts completely, there is no more humor at all. The characters are a mere shadows of themselves, the plot is sometimes rushed, sometimes too slow. There are also massive plot holes. The whole Fascism theme feels really forced but is never resolved. The main character acts suddenly completely out of character and there are ridiculous plot lines that don't push the story further at all, for example the whole Esme side plot in season 6. Wtf was that?? If you haven't seen it, stop after season 4, save 12 hours and remember this as a great show. I had to force myself through season 6 just because I was pot commited, shouldn't have done it.
Better Call Saul: Saul Gone (2022)
Nonsensical ending to an otherwise great show
The writers did a 180 on Saul Goodmans character they had established for almost 10 years in under 10 minutes. Two things make me really mad:
1. They thought a redemption arc was necessary for him when it never was. Almost nobody would drop a 7 year plea deal for a 86 year sentence. And Jimmy is really the last person to do it.
2. They made him change this decision within minutes of the show. There was NO sign whatsoever of him being a changed man in all of the six seasons. He did so much bad stuff and while never being a complete sociopath he still was ruthless enough to just keep going and not lose too much thought over his actions. Even when he was in hiding he still couldn't stop the scams. And then they want me to believe that he would come clean only because Kim, who he hasn't seen in almost a decade, confessed? So that she could see him and be proud of him? That's worth life behind bars to him? Hell no, I ain't buying it AT ALL.
Where were they going with the show all these years? It appears to me that they wanted to close this universe and to not leave any questions unanswered more than staying true and coherent to the character of Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Mixed feelings
The characters and the plot are written pretty bad, but the fights, effects and overall mortal kombat feeling is really good. I had fun watching it.
Kôkaku kidôtai (1995)
Highly overrated
As a Matrix fan, I was overdue for watching this. Unfortunately, I found this movie very boring. 5 stars for the artwork and visuals. No stars for entertainment
Grand Hotel (2019)
Actually pretty good
Edit: Damn, after seeing S01E12 I have to update this to 9 stars. Very captivating storytelling at a good pace with astonishing reveals.
My wife first convinced me to watch it with her. I was hesitant at first, but I really like Roselyn Sanchez so I gave it a shot. The sheer beauty of some of the female cast members glued my eyes further to the screen. But the story got me really hooked. The good ol who did it theme. But that quickly evolved into a more character driven show, which I really like. I normally wouldn't like a show like this, but this one got me
