Judy and Mickey are the best pair!
9 August 2004
On my trip to America this summer I decided to do I a little shopping. One on the DVD's I bought was Love Finds Andy Hardy, you see I am a big Judy Garland fan and I really wanted to buy as many Judy DVD's as I could afford while I was over there, as they only sell one or two in the UK.

Anyway when I watched this DVD later on I was amazed. I didn't not think it was going to be very good but it was amazing, not only that it was very funny. Judy has three numbers (In Between, It never Rains but What it Pours, Meet the Beat of my heart) which she sings brilliantly. Judy's acting in this film is also very good, and her continuous attempts to impress Andy are a mixture of comedy and sadness.

As for Mickey Rooney, I have never seen him in a film before and he too is also very funny. So with Judy and Mickey you have the perfect pair. I now understand why they did so many pictures together and it is a shame they don't sell more of them on DVD.

Lana Turner and Ann Rutherford also are great comedy stars, acting as posh, spoilt brats.

All in all I think Love finds Andy Hardy is a amazing film and everyone should own a copy of it on DVD or Video!

Good film by a little far fetched .....
12 January 2004
I think this is a brilliant film with a decent plot much better than the first movie. However I do think that this is terribly hard to believe. I mean first of all I want to know how a man with 2 machine guns shooting both at the same time and not one bullet hit them. Also the grand lorry-or-the-side-of-a-damm scene was I must say shot brillienty the effects are stunningly realistic. Nevertheless, you are saying that we are supposed to believe that Cameron Diaz can start a hellicopter while falling through mid air, that just is not possible because hellicopers have to be started while they are on the ground. Plus if they were to be in mid air for that long the damm would have to be about 25 miles long.

Later on the end scene I want to know when Cameron Diaz is on her knees while Demi Moore is going to shoot her the other angels appear with their make-up totally perfect after Drew Barrymore has just fallen from a speeding Porsh and falled down some metal esculators and Lucy Liu has also fallen from a speeding Porsh over another car and smashed through the glass of a shop window. Strange!

Timeless Classic - but what was wrong with Marilyn Monroe?
23 December 2003
Some like it hot is one of the best movies of the late 50's. It had the perfect cast, the perfect script and the perfect director. One of the most important things was that it had the perfect trio - Marilyn Monroe, one of the most famous sex symbols of the 20th century. Tony Curtis , a huge star and Jack Lemmon, a brilliant comedian. What could go wrong? One of the things I have noticed about the film is that Marilyn Monroe looks exhausted in most of her scenes and even in some just does not look attractive at all. I appreciate that she was pregnant to a baby she would a few weeks after shooting have a miscarrage to and that she was at the time suffering with her mental health. Also I always think of the story line as sort of a gansta film cros with a musical they just don't go. However, enough bad points on the film. The film is very good and deservs at least a 10 out of 10! I do think that the film should be brought out on DVD in technicolour the lighten up the classic film and bring it out of it's orrigional black and white format!

This should have been the 2nd film
7 July 2003
This film should have been the second film in the Nightmare on Elm Street serise. As the second film was trash. This film is brilliant because once again it stars Nancy Tompson, the person who fought Freddy in the first Nightmare. This is a good way of showing how she coped after the death of her mother. It shows you that her and her father do not have a very good relationship and that her family is broke up. She comes to work in a mental hospital were she meets pations with sleep disorders. Once again she finds herself battling Feddy and finally Freddy has his own back when she is killed. Brilliant film not to be missed, just as disturbing as the original!

Classic Thriller - SCARY! Recomendation 10 - 10
7 July 2003
Recomendation 10 out of 10

This is a classic Horror film. It is mentally scary more than any thing. However, this is the best film out of The Nightmare on Elm Street. What makes it so scary if Fredys voice. Fredy has hardly no lines. This makes it scary. And when he does speak it is demonic. Well remembered Freddy lines are "I'll kill you slow" and "I'll split you in two". These are simple but genuinly scary lines

One of the other things I like about this film, is that some part of it is true. There is one scene were Nancy falls asleep during English class. She is still asleep but you see her screaming, shouting and in a sort of fit like episode. That is actually a sleep disorder which is not rare, as I have suffered it myself. It is know as night terrors. This is were a person is half asleep and half awake. Also there have been reports of people having Nightmares and later dieing in there sleep. These are the two factors that inspired Wes Craven to create the movie. I think that what makes this movie scary is because when you go to bed or go to sleep you feel safe and relaxed. This just proves that no matter where you go you have to sleep and if you cant sleep your better off dead.

This is a movie that is not to be missed by any horror fan. I would strongly advise to anyone who is planning on watching these movies to watch the first one first. As this will tell you about Fredy's past. It is one of the better Nightmare films! This film is definatly in my top ten favorite and will make you think twice when getting into bed!

Could have been brilliant sequel - down to rubbish special effects
7 July 2003
The Exorcist II: The Heretic is the most underrated sequel in movie history. I personally think this is due to the first film (The Exorcist) as nothing could ever match up to a piece of entertainment that good. However, I do think this film could have been improved alot and probably still can if it is restored with the latest technology.

The make - up on this film is appaling compared to the orrigional. I do think they should have used exactly the same make - up as the first film. They could still improve this, as on the flash backs of the exorcisiome they could use clips and sounds from the first movie. That way it would be more scary and it would be Linda Blair and not some doubble. They should have used the same voice from the first film.

Also they should have filmed the Washington scenes in washington. Not on some sound stage. I do understand they did not have permission to film on campus but they coulds restore this today with computer graphics

I personally think it needs to be digitally restored, sound and picture.

Also this film was made by warner brothers because they read and then refused Blattys second book Legion. If Blatty had had his way there would only be two Exorcist films that would be The Exorcist and The Exorcist II: Legion. The Heretic was relised in 1977 Blatty later went to 20th century fox and they turned his book into a film. It then became The Exorcist III: Legion and it was relised in 1990. Over all I think this film is a good attempt, acting by Linda Blair is brilliant in this film. This film should not have been made and gives The Exorcist a bad name!
