Maneater (2022)
Not a Sharknado
Im a shark week person so I'll watch almost any shark movie. Maybe 20 minutes in I thought, oh okay, this will be like a Sharknado. I was wrong. Making a comedic B-movie would have been a better choice.
The sound editing was so off it was painful. The soundtrack was decent but the volume and cuts of music/songs were out of balance.
The dialogue was awkward, lengthy, and just bad. Get to the point right? It's as if the actors weren't given any context to what they were shooting, they were just given words to say without the appropriate meaning behind it. The footage of the shark and attacks didn't even match up to the actors. It was just weird, hard for me to explain it.
More money should have been spent on the quality of the movie but I assume they were broke after acquiring Shane West and Trace Adkins? That's how it felt to me. Or the direction and production is young and inexperienced. It has to be one of the two.
The Patient (2022)
Still waiting...
Perhaps in 2010, this series would have been great. With all of the true crime this did nothing to set it apart in my opinion. I like all the actors in the series. I don't think it had anything to do with their performances. I kept waiting for something to unfold or reveal itself. I guessed at what the twist could be...waited each week...nothing. The episodes were too short, should have been 6 longer episodes. However, it would have never stood alone as a movie so maybe there's your sign. Perhaps I watch too much true crime and I'm being too harsh? Don't think I am though. Just wasn't even impressed enough to go back and watch to see if maybe I missed something.
Maybe it was to shed more of a light on therapy and to show that even your therapist is struggling with issues? That life sucks and isn't always happy? It didn't glamorize serial killers so I guess that part was good. I was bored. Plain and simple.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
A must see classic
Loved it since the first time I saw it as a child. You don't want to miss it.
