Good straight suspense
23 August 2014
This is straight from the heart of Hollywood because no film industry on the planet comes better than Hollywood in making action suspense movies. But with most stories these days the inevitable part, 'clichés' are present in the film but are fairly taken care of and executed. This is a one man movie that slips in every frame of the film till its end, the lead man Liam Neeson. The guy is suddenly on a rescue mission and the suspense starts to build around the bad guy who is mysterious. I have always liked Liam Neeson's style, serious, mature with an elegant face and to the point on his job. In this movie he delivers that job straight.

You know the movie from some point in the film (not initially) and some twists do turn the movie every minute. The bad part is, the background of the lead character was less built, his emotions were not precisely shown; well here he (Neeson) is not that kind of a guy either and then an average & predictable ending.

On and on, the suspense works fairly but the movie does not relate to its title, Liam Neeson's acting is again good and lastly its good 106 minutes if you don't have better choices in the shelf for now.6/10 stars.

An action cinema's masterpiece
13 August 2014
John Rambo's character, played by Sylvester Stallone, is that of a volcano under layers of snow until somebody 'pushes' it to erupt.

This is more than just a thriller action film. This is a story of a mentally disturbed man wanting to find solace, a man who has had a troubled past, a man who is lonely and has a pointless life and his unending mental agony.

This also a film about a man who is arrogant and pushy; the Sheriff played by Brian Dennehy, who misuses his position to push unworthy people. He plays a brilliant negative role that justifies Rambo's hell flare.

The supporting role of Connell Trautman, played by Richard Crenna has defined Rambo's stature. He speaks highly of Rambo, he defines Rambo as a fighting machine who gets better with bare hands, otherwise implausible and fears hell would break lose if circumstances weren't controlled.

The movie shows raw action, has fewer dialogues but pungent and precise. And a deep background score that portrays loneliness. This is one of Sylvester Stallone's best movies. This is also the time when he was looked for his macho physic which also has greatly helped Rambo's character.

This is one of those films which cannot be ever made again .That time, that era won't come back and such performances cannot be repeated.

A beautiful tale than most love stories
11 August 2014
Boy likes 'out of league' girl movies have been made now and then. But this one is different. Boy likes 'out of league girl', girl has her perfect life in front of her, then boy stalks into her life and from then on her life is not the same.

What adds charm to the movie is the sophisticate character of Keith (played brilliantly by Jesse McCartney), the male lead. He has charm, has street smart style, artistic approach and is passionate about his truck. On top of that, he is deep mysterious.

On the other hand Miss Anderson (played by Elisabeth Haronis), the female lead is the flavor of the movie. She who seems to have a sorted out life but is largely in a mess and Keith is to be blamed for it.

The story is well-written-presented with beautiful scenes and a nice ending. However, the role of supporting characters could have been more.

On the whole, this is a must watch teenage love film which you won't forget for some time. 7/10 stars.

Romance, tragedy and transition
10 August 2014
My last South Korean movie was 'My Sassy Girl' and it was pleasure some to watch it. Therefore, I went for 'A Millionaire's First Love'. The film grasps you in the beginning with some mild Asian action around an arrogant rich boy who cares less. He is legal heir to his late grandfather's fortune, who in turn has had kept some unturned dices in his kitty; his will.

From here on, the film carries on in a small town near Seoul where it embarks on an emotional journey of the lead characters. There are few funny scenes that go well with the movie. At several stages the characters deal with their past, like in 'My Sassy Girl' but, which is not completely expressed in the words of the characters but revealed through their emotion, which is pretty nice and emotional. One has to understand it to make out the past relation.

On the whole, this is a nice South Korean romance flick high on emotions. Go for it if you want a good time pass and emotional drama but only if you are not expecting much and any new. 6 out of 10.
