Decoupled (2021)
Unwatchable
Can we for once be proud of celebrating India instead of blindly aping the western shows!
Even if these characters are doing so, aping the west, it could have been so much better in the hands of intelligent writers, especially those who know the Indian culture well.
Completely predictable and pedestrian. Could have been shot in America with American actors, no uniqueness has been reflected about the country this show is pretending to represent. Its like the writers never stepped out to study their own country and their own countrymen. Tiring content. Very cliched. Another disappointment from Netflix.
2.0 (2018)
Losing faith in ratings
This movie has a path breaking storyline and uses innovative storytelling techniques. Great direction and story from Shankar. A few years ahead of its time. Truly underrated if we go by the ratings here.
Bhaag Beanie Bhaag (2020)
I really tried to sit through this
A show about stand up by people who have no clue about stand up. Bad casting. If people want to see a good show about stand up where a housewife turns to stand up and freaks out her family and dumps her husband, there is Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Which is well made, nuanced, terrific actors, well scripted. Why would someone want to watch a copy that too a bad copy of a non existent comedy scene. What the hell is the point of this show! Who is your audience? If its for the Americans, they have better fiction on stand up as they have a long lasting tradition of stand up. If this is made for Indians? Then well it was a waste as a more interesting take would be to show the way stand up scene is just taking off in India and why?
Like who the hell is running NETFLIX in India? Fire them! One horrible show after the other this year!
Thanks for wasting my time. I really tried to like or at least watch this show.
Ludo (2020)
Don't believe the 1/10 reviews!
Anurag Basu hits the home run with LUDO!
I am writing this review after seeing the mixed reviews by some film critics and some illiterate people who seem to have no clue about film-making as a medium or as an art form.
I hope more and more people watch this film as its entertaining and beautiful to watch. I could only find one or two faults or missing pieces which pale in comparison to the actual plot of the movie and how deftly it has been crafted. Anurag Basu is the most underrated director in Bollywood. Hopefully Ludo will give him the adulation and fame he deserves.
Heartening performances from Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi!
Miss India (2020)
Poor effort from the director!
No vision. The movie ended where it should have begun, too lengthy and completely unrealistic dialogues, bad editing, unnecessary plots which add nothing to the the story. Really poor effort from the director and the writers. Keerthy's acting cant save this.
Aunn Zara (2013)
Lack of awareness about gaslighting
When Aunn constantly lies to his family and then lies to Zara, the wife gets confused and in turn faces consternation of the Aunn's family, who are also made to feel confused by Aunn's lying. Lying to create confusion and sowing doubts to create bad blood and then be happy by seeing people go through such ordeal falls under gaslighting which is a form of psychological manipulation.
The creator of this show has created a character who is celebrated for gaslighting but without awareness we will continue to see this happening. It seems like an honest oversight. But if the creators are reading this or anyone else who is thinking of creating content, please be aware about using characters who gaslight. The show is not at fault but then as a society we need to increase our awareness of if we can. Even I got to know about this a few years back, we usually adjust with the whims of such people, who are passed off as spoiled. But it is a clinical personality disorder.
The Ugly Truth (2009)
In spite of all the 'romcom' clichés this romcom holds its own
This is one romcom where there is something for both the sexes. It has something for everyone. Its a must watch if you wanna have a good time and also feel that you dint waste your time. Also Gerard Butler and Kathrine Heigl make the characters their own. Its definitely one of Heigl's better performances. Its an out an out entertainer with just the right mix of love-hate banter. Lovely screenplay, the only downer is that the direction could have been better. Katherine plays a total control-freak television show producer who is high on integrity but television as we know it does not get TRP for integrity. So her show is suffering; At this point comes the unusual knight in shining armor Butler, who is completely opposite of what women consider as 'classy'. Yet, in his own perverse and scandalous ways he is able to rake in the TRPs. So unfolds the rest of the story with just enough juice to keep you glued till the end.
