Get Santa (2014)
What a wonderful Movie!
I just happened upon this movie while I was flipping through my sky channels and decided to watch. Since the movie had already started, I decided to watch it from the very beginning with my video club. I'm sooo glad I did! What hidden gem!
There were some great laughs that I truly enjoyed, but most of all, I truly felt like a kid again! The magic of Christmas rings true in this movie and you may, if you feel like I do, find yourself smiling to yourself as you watch.
I won't tell you what happens in the movie because I can't bring myself to spoil it for you, but rest assured, if you watch it, you will be left with a warm feeling in your heart.
Isn't that what a Christmas movie should do? :)
Devil Beneath (2023)
Released in 2016
OH Dear!
I started watching this movie and then realized it was a movie that I had already seen quite some time ago....
It's Red Billabong - Released in 2016
Not sure the rational of waiting for such a long time to release it in North America...
I quite like the concept. I like the aboriginal content, but what could have been amazing, falls a bit flat.
The fight scenes are pretty terrible. I was just looking for more.
The beast is clearly fake. The acting is "OK", but not great and the storytelling is definitely not exciting.
What could have been an amazing story, turned into a lackluster tale.
Unfortunate.
I do think that this story could be retold with more bells and whistles.
Just my take...
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022)
SMILE
I laughed, I cried, I cried, I laughed again!
What a feel-good, whimsical movie!
The shyness, yet sometimes witty, yet intelligence, yet passionate, yet strength, yet kindness of Lyle is all the more intriguing because it's impossible, but yet some part of you just wants to believe and so you enjoy... Every song, every next moment is a moment of fascination.
The fact that Lyle does not speak makes it all the more curious and endearing. This movie may be for kids, but yes, I'm a grown-up and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
I believed for a moment in time and all I can say is thank you for my moment! :)
Savage Beauty (2022)
Addictive
Savage Beauty caught me off guard! I never expected to be so captivated by a series of South African origin, but Savage Beauty is it!
The plot is very plausible and baked just right. Revenge is the key, with a Dynasty-like vibe; set in South Africa. There is nothing second rate about the visuals and the opulence. Add to that a certain continuous level of suspense and the addiction to the show is accomplished.
The actors are amazing. They maintain their characters, however you keep on believing that maybe, just maybe they will change, but they never do. For love, For money, For power... As situations pull on them to change, they become more engrained in how their respective objectives must be accomplished... a new way... no... in the same devious, or noble-devious manner. Depending, of course, on which side of the fence you're on.
Looking forward to season 2. Not sure if there is enough material for a season 3, but I definitely need some "closure".
Savage Beauty hooked me!
Looking for the roller coaster ride to finish what it started!
Senior Year (2022)
Thank you for the Joy!
Okay... so the idea intrigued me and as I watched I just couldn't stop!
I laughed out loud... more than once! In fact, quite a bit!
Rebel Wilson did not disappoint and before I realized it was her... it WAS her. Absolutely hilarious!
One of the best parts of this movie is that you can clearly see that all the actors are having a good time. The themes are not new, but it doesn't matter... not one bit!
If you want a simple, good feeling surrounded by a few predictable laughs with actors that you truly enjoy watching... go no further.
This movie definitely brought the JOY for me.
Black as Night (2021)
Can't Handle The Message???
I have seen flicks that are way less entertaining and quite stupid, but I actually liked this movie. A bit predictable and a bit lacking on the fighting scenes and what constituted a kill hit on the vampires, but I think the messages that the film was trying to convey carried some value. There was also some truth that I think, based on how many are rating this film, is a bit hard to take. At any rate, I enjoyed this movie! I found the acting not bad at all. If the storyline was beefed up, I see no reason why it could not become either a short series or a tv show.
My perspective...
Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
Acting Superb!
I found myself loving the kindhearted and despising the nasty characters. I have to attribute the realness of everything to the superb acting of the young actors in this movie. Every character is complex in their own way.
This is not just a zombie movie, but.in some ways a coming of age story for the young characters. Everyone seems to mature in some way.
A well put together story and I just had to keep watching!
This is definitely not just about zombies! :)
Psycho Goreman (2020)
Trash
This is one of the worst pieces of trash I have ever seen. Why spend money on all that make-up when the script was ridiculous?
I tried to finish it, but finally I just couldn't stomach it any longer.
Waste your time on something else.
Shark Huntress (2021)
LOL!
This movie was beyond terrible.
If it was supposed to be a commentary on the environment, then it was a very poor representation.
If it was supposed to be a shark movie, it failed miserably.
If it was supposed to showcase talent, there was little talent to be found.
It ended up being quite a waste of time and I am sure some investor cash.
WOW!
Not sure how you could try to make it worse!
Carolina's Calling (2021)
Surprisingly I don't Hate it!
Very very very very very very low budget. However, it was actually quite endearing. A very clean movie; which is hard to find these days.
The only thing that was about distracting was the fact that Antonio Sabato Junior and Stacey Dash were in this movie. I kept thinking... Are they taking this seriously ???
Lol Fun anyhow.
Lancelot and Guinevere (1963)
A Heartless, Selfish and Childish Quin
Definitely my least favourite version of the classic tale. Guinevere is heartless, and borders on cruel in her pursuit of the love she has for Lancelot. In all other versions that I have seen, she at least has some conscience. In this version however, the is no hint of decency... only childish fancy and no sense of honour. I much prefer an honourable, yet hopelessly in love Guin; torn by her respect for Arthur and her deep love for Lancelot.
I suppose the world today is more akin to this version.
Selfish and rude.
Bearry (2021)
A bit of a Laugh
Not sure if this was supposed to be a comedy, but let me tell ya... Bearry got a few laughs out of me. Definitely Not even a B-Movie, but the teddy bear is a star!!! Lol.
Finding Hubby (2020)
Good until the end
This movie made sense up until the non-ending; full of bad advice.
Not sure at all what that was. Would love to give it more than 4 but I was truly too disappointment and bewildered to give it anything more.
Horrible mistake!
Army of the Dead (2021)
The AWARD for MOST ANNOYING goes to...
Why oh why was the daughter Kate in this movie. She was unbearably annoying and added little to the theme! Loved all the other characters! Could not stand her and wished she had been left out of the movie. With her in it, this movie became no more than a 5 right away. So she lives on... so she has to deal with her last act.... WHO CARES!! She is nobody in this movie!!! :(
BAD CHOICE!
Stowaway (2021)
Good Start
This movie starts off really well. The actors of course are A1.
However, at the end; which didn't seem like the end... I felt as if they just simply ran out of money.
The result is a feeling of... "What was the point... really?"
Disapointing...
The Wedding March (2016)
THAT WIG
I am here in 2021 watching the movie right now and I had to check online to see if anyone else noticed how BAD the wig on Josie's head is. Sure enough... EVERYONE seems to have noticed it. I thought maybe she was sick and needed a wig for some reason. Not sure what that's all about, but apart from that. It is the predictable feel good Hallmark movie. It all ends up great in the end.
We need these movies once in a while. Especially when the worlds is not the safest place in these times.
Thank you Hallmark. :)
Patient 001 (2018)
Could Have Been Good
So... this movie Could Have Been Good... but then.... wasn't.
The beginning had promise and for me... I had really never thought of the fact that a clone would have to share a soul, or consciousness. Liked the introduction of the dilemma. Unfortunately, as the movie progressed it became way too predictable. To make matters worse, the ending was rushed as if they had no more budget and therefore decided to end it quickly. They couldn't even pay the actor playing the doctor; so he could at least discuss with the son, or feign accountability for what he had done. Or so it seemed.
All in all, at the start, good disturbing with a good question raised.
However, bad disturbing outweighed with predictability and what seemed to be a movie that ran out of funds.
Broken Darkness (2017)
Potential
This movie had potential. Started out with an interesting way of continuing society underground and then finished off with the apocalyptic cliche samples. Ending with no direction. Too bad!
I also almost lost my mind on the female character lead... the most ridiculously annoying person of the whole movie.
Next!
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
Why the Creature?
Great acting on Chloe's part, but out of place sinister element.
Awesome almost embodiment of how alone she is by keeping her in the lower gun for so much of the movie. Just hearing the voices after seeing the crew briefly is another great feature...
Non-stop courage from her and a little hokey that of course she beats up the sinister element alone; while all the men are helpless.
All the same, this movie could have made a little more sense if the creature was left out.
Just my take...
On the Rocks (2020)
The middle of the Movie is Gold
~A bit of a spoiler Alert~
So yes... it gave me a scare at the beginning... Was this going to make me cry?
Was this another story of a man with unfaithful ways?
At the middle of the movie, when she was with her dad in that hilarious beautiful car with the noisy end... I had to laugh anyway.... and laugh... and laugh... A laugh that I truly needed. One of those right in your belly laughs and every time you think of the hilarity of it all... you laugh again... Even though the scene is done. I've had that belly laugh before. A laugh only a daughter can know. It was then that I realized what the movie was all about.
You will too!
Enjoy!
The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot (2018)
Not Sure Why Bigfoot Needed to be In This...
Love Sam Elliott; which is the only reason this is getting a 6 and not a 5. The parallel story lines were great and the idea of heroism that stole the main character's life was plausible, but Bigfoot?? Really??? Not sure why that needed to be in there. Loved the scene where he admitted that he killed "HiM". Great performance by Sam, but again.... Bigfoot??? Really??? Why????
It's funny, because I love the whimsy, but in this case it just seemed so out of place and unnecessary.
If I take the tracking of the beast and the fight scene with the beast on its own (which was pretty nasty) I can give it a thumbs up. Although and old man, the hero's still got it. No flashy moves, just the real deal in a life and death struggle.
SO the verdict is... it could have been better if they had chosen a military target for the second go around, but I guess skill is skill. Sam has still got it and I find it always a joy to watch him. The parallel story with the love of his life and the sweet relationship between him and his brother gave me an inner smile. Would I watch this again? Probably not, but there is an entertainment factor. For those of you who like whimsy flung into the middle of a movie. This is the one for you.
