Wordplay (2006)
Hilarious look at the behind the scenes of Crossword Puzzles
I found this movie incredibly hilarious. I went to see it purely because I knew an acquaintance of mine had a cameo in it. (He interned for Will Shortz and was one of the competition judges.)
I ended up being completely surprised at how funny it was. The witty quips from participants and judges were priceless. I've never played a crossword puzzle in my life and I still enjoyed the film. You'll find yourself rooting for certain contestants to win the competition.
The celebrity cameos are done well and are actually a substantial part of the movie.
I've recommended this movie to the entire English department at my college. You won't regret the price of admission!
Must Love Dogs (2005)
I love Must Love Dogs!
I enjoyed this lovely romantic comedy and have recommended it to all of my friends.
I've loved Diane Lane since Under the Tuscan Sun and her performance pleases in this movie as well.
John Cuzack is an extremely lovable character.
I think it would be a very cute date movie.
Take a gals night out and go see it!
(I lucked into seeing a preview screening of this film in Boston. They handed out Perfectmatch.com free month subscriptions to all the women in the audience.)
In Good Company (2004)
Wonderful Movie
This movie is one of my new favorites.
When a sports magazine gets bought out, Dave Foreman, an ad sales executive (Dennis Quaid) finds himself playing second-in-command to Carter Duryea (Topher Grace), a hotshot barely half his age.
Dave becomes both a rival and father figure to Carter as the two struggle to get through life.
Carter invites himself over to Dave's house to escape his loneliness, where he meets Dave's daughter Alex (Scarlett Johansson).
The movie is more about emotion than plot. The acting comes across so genuine and moving.
Viewers of all ages would enjoy this movie, not just fans of Topher Grace.
It has a rather unusual ending which adds to the movie's touching nature.
Constantine (2005)
Creepy but great!
I wasn't sure I was going to like this movie when I first saw the trailers. A friend of mine who adores Keanu talked me into seeing the movie.
I'm so glad I did. It was wonderful! The plot was a creepy but great battle between heaven and hell on earth.
The casting for the movie was perfect. It was a very interesting take on the comic book hero.
THERE IS A SECOND ENDING AFTER THE CREDITS!!!! Be sure to stay to watch it. I don't want to give away what it is but it's worth waiting for.
Interesting trivia: I found out that originally Constantine was supposed to have a different love interest than who is portrayed currently in the movie. It was supposed to be one of the half breeds he kills which would have made the scene even more emotional than it is now.
House of Wax (2005)
Actually an enjoyable movie
I originally was talked into seeing this movie by a friend. I am not a horror movie fan (as I scare easily) so it took some convincing.
I was on the edge of my seat most of the movie.
My tension was lessened however when most of the theater cheered when Paris Hilton's character died. (I saw the movie in a theater that college students regularly attend.)
The ending of the movie leaves it open for a sequel. I'd be interested to see if the stars who survived this movie will agree to be in a sequel.
I'm actually quite glad I saw the film. The movie was surprisingly well done and I enjoyed it. You will not be disappointed. Every one of my college aged friends that has seen the movie has given me a favorable review of it.
