The Perfection (2018)
Topsy-Turvy, Twisted, Tricky, and Tumultuous
Rarely do I find a movie so thoroughly engrossing as "The Perfection." From the very beginning it will resuscitate in you uncomfortable morbid memories better left forgotten. The well written storyline is quickly paced without getting lost and keeps you on the edge. The graphic special fx are satisfyingly perfectly gross and creepy. The acting is surprisingly and consistently first-rate from start to finish from the whole cast. From beginning to end the movie was a thrilling, unpredictable, visually stimulating ride!
Brightburn (2019)
Some things aren't what they seem!
I really liked this move, from the get go! The "parents" adored this child thinking that they've been blessed with a tremendous gift and a considerable task of raising him to be an asset to society. Thing is as when they found him all they thought was good! But as Forest Gump's momma used to tell him, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." I couldn't stop watching no pee, snack, phone, or anything break. It just flowed well, the acting was good, storyline great! More of an adult watch in my opinion, at least 16 yrs. old, but I'm old as dirt so I'm a little old school lmao. Hope you enjoy it!
Outlaws Don't Get Funerals (2019)
Caught me off guard!
I'll always come to IMDB when I'm looking for a movie to watch because you'll see 6.7 or more rating and I get suspicious, especially for a lower budget movie. To no surprise IMDB gave it a 4.3, but I decided to give it a shot, I liked the synopsis and to be honest the ratings on IMDB can be wrong in my opinion, just like my opinion may be wrong to others, and that's ok we all have different tastes. Anyways, from the beginning this movie had me sucked in, if I I don't like a movie I'll know within 5 to 10 minutes and find something else. Everything about this movie just clicked and had a nice flow. It's not a big bang action movie, remember, it has a small budget and even with that the acting was pretty good! The plot had me right away, I won't give away anything but something transpires in the first 10 minutes that kept me intrigued all the way until it was revealed and I kept guessing all the way, every guess wrong! The ending threw me for a loop and that's all I'll say about that. If you're looking for a full on action movie with explosions you're going to want to pass. If you want a decent movie with unknown actors doing decent acting with in my opinion a good plot that flows well then this may be a good fit for you! Hope you enjoy it!
Black Panther (2018)
Long, drawn out, and painful!!
I have never not liked a superhero movie that came from Marvel or DC Comics, until Black Panther! IMBD gave it a 7.8/10, Rotten Tomatoes a 97%, and Metacritic an 88%! Their showing must've had all the fabulous scenes and storyline that was obviously edited out. I appreciate and enjoy the 3 act structure of the set-up, confrontation, and resolution that the screenwriters and directors use to seamlessly keep these movies action packed, exciting, humorous, emotionally gripping, and thought provoking. None of this was done effectively with Black Panther. I hate to say this but it seemed as if the director, Ryan Coogler was trying to make this movie relative to the struggles of black communities living together in inner-cities. I could be totally in left field with that thought but it just seemed too coincidental. Albeit fine, and if that was his objective, superhero films that are based on the action, adventure, and sci-fi genre don't flow seamlessly, or well, with a film that seems steeped in the drama genre. It was a disappointingly abysmal let down. How this movie got rave reviews by movie critics across the board is mind boggling but in this day and age when you can lose your job, followers, advertising deals by being forthright, unflattering, and God forbid curt and negatively critiquing a film that is made up of 98% African American Actors, Director, and Writers you will unequivocally get torn apart by the news media, social media, and probably ANTIFA! Especially, when you're the only movie critic who mistakenly did his job. I can just imagine them all sitting at their desks after watching Black Panther thinking, "That movie was utterly horrible, but I can't write that now can I? I'll be made to look like a movie critic version of President Trump, except without the power, billions in net worth, and powerful allies, they'll destroy me! Just lie for God's sake, forget my integrity, moral fortitude, and pride! I'll die if I have to do manual labor!!
