Not sure what people want from movie
20 September 2017
The film is Netflix polished with breathtaking scenes and a suspenseful atmosphere. The story is based on truth from a 7 year old girls perspective during the rise of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.

Scenes of family survival and the horrors of war hold up well and should be of delight to anyone interested in the politics that engulfed South East Asia during the 1970's.

The dialogue in the movie is very basic but I'm left to wonder whether that was the intention as the story is from a small child's perspective trying to make sense of her surroundings.

There is very little in character development or details on what is actually happening politically in the movie in most scenes.

I would recommend people read into the Khmer Rouge before watching as it would make a more enjoyable movie experience, paying particular attention as the why Western Allied Nations supported such a brutal regime after the fall of Vietnam to the Communists.

God bless to all those in Cambodia that lived and died through this troubled time, great movie and certainly brought regular tears to my eyes.

Brown given life without parole.
20 January 2014
A thought provoking documentary into the failures of the American Justice system when sentencing young offenders. A girl of 16 Cyntoia Brown given life without parole.

There is no gloss over the seriousness of Cyntoia's crimes or actions, the documentary is fair and unbiased and does not paint her to be an angel.

Throughout the film we see different sides to Cyntoia that of becoming an intelligent woman and adjusting to prison life, a far cry from the young immature street girl who was brought into custody with a potty mouth.

Recent reforms in California for Juveniles who served 15 years can be retrial, lets hope Tennessee follows suit.

Genius Movie
1 June 2012
Finished watching this movie 2 hours ago, so here is a real fresh review: This movie does well to grasp you from reality with its superb plot line, the cinematics are clear and utterly jaw dropping, some of the best cinema to date, every scene and character invokes a sense of mystery and intrigue.

Ridley Scott has pulled off a genius movie it has everything, action, mystery, horror, suspense and of course a unbelievable plot line that keeps the guessing game going and going.

By the end of this movie i couldn't help thinking i had come across a puzzle, some of the characters actions were questionable, when you leave a cinema asking your friends why did he or she do this, you know there is more to come.

I will give this movie a 9.5, when you watch this movie with an open mind lets just pretend for moment that its not just a movie, and mine and all your questions are answered !!
