The Bob Newhart Show: You're Having My Hartley (1977)
One of the best of the original Bob Newhart show
I had forgotten this episode and I have to say it was one of the funniest of the whole series. I tend not to write a review unless I think it's a 9 or a 10. Paired up with Tom Poston, who also was a regular in the "New Bob Newhart Show", this was an Hilarious, where Carol said that she was pregnant. Then Bob went home and Emily came home from the doctor and announced that she was pregnant also. This caused Bob, Tom, Howard and Jerry to go out and get sloshed. Upon their return they brought a full grown horse up to the apartment. Then in the next scene Bob wakes up and finds that he was dreaming the whole thing. (Very similar to the way they ended the "New Bob Newhart Show" which was the best ending ever to any TV show in history).
When you see Suzanne Pleshette in this episode you can see why every boy or man from 14 to 90 thought see was one of the most gorgeous woman of all times. If you ask any man even today from 45 to 80 what actress had the world's sexiest voice, 99 out of 100 would answer Suzanne Pleshette.
She was the modern day (1960's-1970's) Mae West. If she only used one of her famous lines: "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" She looked great right up to the last appearance I ever saw her in "Will & Grace". I truly miss her as I'm sure many others do to!
Bonanza: A Rose for Lotta (1959)
This was amazing for 1959, no wonder everyone liked Bonanza
This was an amazing kick off for one of the best TV series ever on the air. I had no idea that these early episodes were done in color. We didn't get a color TV in our Family until about 1971, so I only knew them in Black and white. I'm sure if you were lucky enough to have a color TV back then you would have been blown away by Yvonne D Carlo as well as the scenery of the Ponderosa Ranch. It helped explain how the three brothers were from three different mothers. It must have been a major feat getting a big star like Yvonne D Carlo to do a TV show at the time. She has always been one the world's most beautiful and exotic looking actress's of all times, a true timeless beauty.
I also noticed a bit part by a guy named Ned Glass that I had recognized from a 3-stooges short (From nurse to Worse 1940)(he was in many 3-stooges and was a friend of Moe Howards) I remembered this as a kid but never could connect the dots until the invention IMDb. He always played a small time crook in many bits parts. Like Freddie the forger in Get Smart. He was from Poland born one year before my grandfather who was a Polish/Russian Immigrant also, that probably wouldn't have made it through WWII if he had stayed in Poland.
A Great start for one of the best and longest running westerns TV shows of all time! (I miss them all)
Cannon: Photo Finish (1974)
Great episode if you are a Jack Cassidy fan*** Great Story and scenery of old California
Great episode! A "10" for the Cannon series - Excellent plot and story a great display of acting from a host of familiar characters from my youth. It brings back memories of California when I lived right there. (Shows great parts of California when there wasn't millions of houses covering every inch), I can't figure out if it's in the San Beradino Mtns., Calabasas or even the undeveloped parts of Bel Aire in some of the canyons along Mulholland Drive (lots of trees still left around there at that time)
Of course if you are a jack Cassidy fan like me, how can you go wrong? He always ads a certain touch of old fashioned class to any roll he portrays. He was great as an evil murderer or master criminal. He could also be very funny he did many guest appearances on every TV show of his day. My favorite one that comes to mind is an episode of GET SMART, where he played a decorator named "Mr. BOB", it's an absolute classic roll. I am prejudice though because I think that GET SMART was the best satire Comedy ever put together. Every actor was an intricate part, when they made the first movie it didn't have the Chief (he had died) and it really didn't have anywhere near the same zing.
