O Jerusalem (2006)
10/10
One hard subject, one beautiful movie.
2 November 2006
I thought I am not a good candidate to write a review about the movie (Being a Jew who was born in Israel) - Until I saw the other review here and I was shocked and sadden.

There are many "views" of what really happened in 1948. Each side holds its own view to events, as Akira Kurosawa's "Rashomon" wisely tells us about the subjectivity of truth and the uncertainty of factual accuracy.

The independence war is part of Israel's collective memory as it is to the Arab side. Of course anything that I will write will be influenced with that filtration - as well as the previous reviewer and possibly the reviewers to follow. We all "own" our subjective truth.

So Instead of replying to the previous reviewer with "my facts" to the events that took place in 1948 in order to contradict his claims, I will halt here and urge you to not to give up upon your believes but to hold them back and see the movie. You will not regret it.

Yes, I know the movie will not be enjoyable to or appreciated by everyone. If you are an Arab or Jew extremist you will probably leave the cinema in the middle of the movie - If you wish to see a one-sided, "the truth is here" movie I suggest you see a Michael Moore movie.

But if you wish to see a movie with a brilliant script that tries to touch the human triumph and tragedies of the 1948 war with a superb cast that will make you shed a tear – this movie for you.

JAPS - Just Another Political Statement?
16 January 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Just like Steven Spielberg's "Munich", this film is a political statement before anything else.

It puts up very clear lines - We Americans are for freedom and civil right, we have some lunatic who want to hurt us, and we have even bigger lunatics from the right wing of the political map who would like to take over our democracy and turn it into a madhouse.

For me, the major problem with the film came just to the end, when the The CIA agent was telling her FBI friend about the way the American's betray their friends in Iraq.

Oops...the American indeed did so, but they betray the Kurds, not the Sunni Wahabist who forms Al-Quaida.

Throw on people pieces of the truth and they will believe they see the truth itself.

So taking up Al-Quaida, putting the blame for their actions on the Americans themselves is not a twist of reality, it's a lie. and Like "Munich" the hell with the truth, all we care is to pass the left-oriented message that everyone to blame in the situation.

You know, based on this insane twisted mind-set Roman Polanski's wife Sharon Tate who was murdered in 1969 by Charles Manson gang would have been turned from a victim to a person who asked to be raped and murdered. After all, everyone are to blame

Collateral (2004)
One of the best movies I saw in recent years.
15 November 2004
I didn't had the chance to see any movie in theater lately so I enjoyed running over to the local DVD rental shop and express my anger in watching everything there.

I went last night to see a movie and decided to choose this one only by mistake. But sometimes mistakes can lead to wonderful things.

It was one of the best movies I saw in recent times. I can't extend more positive comments above what other have written on the movie. I can only recommend going and seeing the movie. The main thing I loved in the movie was the character buildup which was magnificent. The only point I really found flaw was the final (the really final scene) standout between the two heroes of the movie. Other then that, It was almost a perfect movie.

9+/10

The Lion King 1½ (2004 Video)
This is NOT the godfather part 3...
21 February 2004
Yes, it is build on "The Lion King", but the original movie was a masterpiece, so why shouldn't it?

If your children loved "The Lion King" make sure *NEVER* to put them anywhere near "The Lion King 2", and bring them this movie instead.

And with vocal talent of Nathan Lane, Julie Kavner and Ernie Sabella to name few, it is a great cast and movie.

People, I rather see this movie 10 times then watching some of Disney's "not-so-great" movies (and the list there is L----ong)!

I suggest to everyone to see "The Lion King", and a day after see this movie. It's the real sequal to the movie.

If combined with the original, it is getting a 8/10!
