Los renglones torcidos de Dios (2022)
Too many plot twists can't hide the plot holes
Is it thrilling? Yes. You will feel the suspense and anxiety at times, you will feel confused also. There are a lot of plot twits, so you are never sure what to believe. Personally, I think the twist at the end was too much. Or at least it needed more minutes to be explained. Being what it is -and it ain't short- it leaves plot holes. Just to list a few: What happened to his husband? How did she know what was written in the psychiatrist's letter? I read in other review that these things are answered in the book's finale. Well, they are not in the movie. Here, it's like they just wanted to give one more twist to leave an open final and blew people's mind. I know some spectators like that, and it must be very rewarding for movie productions because a lot of the spanish thrillers I've watched have that one last plot twist that leaves a lot of plot holes and sometimes makes you think all the characters are stupid (and that the writers think that of the viewers). Some examples of this are Hogar (2022) and Baztan trilogy.
In resume, the movie is entertaining but I didn't buy the end. So, at the end, it's just a "Meh" for me.
PS: I really like the art in the poster. It's simple but very related to the movie plot.
La sociedad de la nieve: ¿Quiénes fuimos en la montaña? (2024)
Good but too short
It was too short. It almost felt like a trailer for something longer. I'd have loved to see more behind the scenes of the SFX. I would also have loved to watch some casting videos or the process of the casting team (amazingly done by Iair Said and Maria Laura Berch) reviewing the photos/videos to know what they were taking into account. Also, a lot of the actors didn't even appear. I feel like even the ones who had 1 scene (and didn't even had dialogue) are important because they were playing real people and there's still family of the deceased expecting to see them on the screen, It's a huge commitment. Example of this is that Felipe Maquirriain's sister is on this, talking with Roberto Canessa, and her brother died at the plane crash and has only a few seconds on the screen in the movie.
Network (1976)
Shouting and more shouting
I personally find difficult to enjoy a movie in wich there's not a main character. In "Network" I did not empathize with anyone, I did not hate anyone, I did not have that typical movie feeling of sharing thoughts or something with any character.
All the characters are shouting, yelling, screaming ALL the time, specially Peter Finch and Faye Dunaway. Also, all the characters have something like a speech (That they repeat several times) saying how the world works according to them. But that is too literal, a character doesn't necessarily need a speech saying what he thinks, he can show it with her actions and the audience will understand.
Maybe the plot of this movie was very original at the time but nowadays we all know the crazyness for ratings on TV. There are several much better things to watch about this subject: Black Mirror's episodes 'The Waldo Moment' (Wich is one of the worst for me) and Fifteen Millions Merits, Nightcrawler (With Jake Gyllenhaal being more crazy than Faye Dunaway's character), etc.
Finally, the movie is way too long. I was waiting to see "The end" since the first hour...
I think this one didn't survive the passing of time.
Sorry for the possible mistakes, I use this as a training for my english writing. My first language it's spanish.
