Rabbit Hole (2023)
2/10
Deeply unwatchable
17 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I tried. Even tried this weeks nonsensical episode where the gang that you thought was blown to bits is revealed as really being alive having staged their own demise for some reason my aged brain cannot figure out. Other than Kiefer the acting is non-existent. Sorry folks this one is just too bad to keep, what on earth are the producers thinking? Just because its Kiefer Sutherland? I fail to care about any of the characters or who is trying to control the world. This plot device has become whatever is the superlative of cliche. Who would want to watch this? The positive reviews are, I am certain, done by the producers or whoever greenlighted this monsterpiece.

The Patient (2022)
7/10
Trapped therapist
8 November 2022
As a therapist I came across this quite by accident although I loved The Americans. This is a time where I am myself feeling as if I am tied in a basement somewhere by my patients, metaphorically of course, but psychologically identical. So, Steve Carrell's performance was perfect, portraying the struggle to both remain present for the patient, no matter how disturbed or disturbing, while negotiating the conflicts within oneself and basically dying to get away. Given this premise, I found the show riveting but only a seven because the other characters seemed one dimensional to me. The serial killer was not as interesting as Dexter, his inner struggles not so apparent, his desire to stop killing made little sense. Give it a binge watch and see what you think and next time you go to a therapist, if you do, have a little mercy on us.

Needs public broadcase
4 March 2022
In 1979 I organized a public showing with speakers from local university as I was terrified that the child in my belly would not grow up to see adulthood. Now, she is more than 40 years old and has children of her own and once again, I am terrified for my grandchildren and for all the children. The film is factual and well done, directed by Haskel Wexler. I did not know that it was rereleased with narration by Paul Newman. Someone PLEASE, air this film at this time of crisis for the entire world.

Thoroughly enjoyed

Warning: Spoilers
Action, multi-dimensional characters and beautiful photography. Season 3 has love interest as well. I would love to see a Season 4 but from what I understand this is not even being talked about. Sadly.

Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022)

Still yawning and it's Episode 6
12 December 2021
Sooo disappointing. Michael C. Hall is a brilliant, multi-talented guy from Six Feet Under through Dexter. But the writers have let him down massively. Where is the witty, ironic self-awareness that made Dexter the character so much more than just a killer? And the kid is just annoying. Bad acting or a script that doesn't give him much to work with, I don't know. There has to be more, more mystery, more quirk, more plot. Showtime has turned one of the best shows ever to a huge cliche factory. Shame.

Back to finances please
28 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Andrew Ross Sorkin exec producer where are you? One of the things that glued me to tv screen during first two seasons was the fascinating financial world I knew nothing about but wanted to learn. This part has gone away somewhere I do not know. I don't agree with another poster about Taylor Mason, I loved her but she too has lost their edge along with their idealism and passion. And Damien Lewis, such range as an actor (just purchased the DVD of Keane when I read that film was basically Lewis' screen tests for Homeland. The man is a genius but recently he has got nothing to do. What's up with that, writers? Or is Lewis busy with some other project? And that artist with pecs was cringeworthy, a total cartoon of an artist. Axe and Wendy deserve one another but there's no where to go from here but way downhill Paul Giamatti, too, seems to be phoning it in. I remember how awesome it was when we saw him lose everything, cry and laugh hysterically, only to really he lost everything as the price of crushing Axe. Wags is still my spirit animal. Ever since Breaking Bad.

Love it
27 September 2021
Did not know about the graphic novel so came in cold. Love it. Acting, Witty, Action. Mystery, timely. Can't wait till next episode. I think as some have said there is a review bomb going on as this is politically "woke". Black star, Mention of "T". Only reason I'm not giving it a 10 is Meryl Streep is not in it.

The Guardian (2001–2004)

Understated but powerful
22 December 2011
I know I watched this when it was on air but somehow watching it streaming as a sort of marathon makes it more powerful. Others have commented and disagreed on the acting also speculated why the show didn't last. I wanted to add my couple of cents. Simon Baker basically does play the same role in the Mentalist, (savior) but smiles and wins more hence the show not being canceled. In the Guardian, the hero does not always win, the ending is not always happy and the characters are always flawed. This might be too much for network TV. The theme song and introduction are obnoxious when compared with cable shows such as Dexter, Oz. Lulu's character is not written with as much depth as the others so its hard to fault the acting. I think the viewer felt a bit manipulated by the drawn out back and forth with Nick. Its always hard for writers to get over the hump of what to do with all that sexual tension. Just look at what happened to House. Dabney Coleman is brilliant in his intensity. This show has many shades of gray and is very much worth watching.
