The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Seriously?
The first episode is very slow. The girl says she is 9, but is obviously at least 13. They explain away her big feet by saying her shoes are too big and she will grow into them. She hangs around a girl who looks 17, yet is in her same class. They are giving kids tranquilizers, and at 9 she is taking four or five a night? That's not unrealistic. At one point she takes 20 and passes out, but doesn't die. It's never explained why a couple adopt her when she looks like she is 20 (the actress is 24). They make a big deal about her starting her period, is that to try to convince us she is younger than 24? There are so many cliches in this show. I guess it gets better and that is why people like it? Just. crazy that such lazy writing, production design and casting are fine if it is Netflix, but would be eaten alive if it were an independent film. Please tell me who thought high school kids in the 50s actually had locks on their lockers? With the budget Netflix has these shows should be spot on with facts, script and production design. Bobby Fischer's life was more interesting than this, this just seems so forced.
Rebecca (2020)
EDITING? 2019 BICYCLISTS WITH HELMETS IN THE MOVIE? Netflix has enough money to do better.
The craziest thing is that from 14:20/14:25 when they are driving back to Monaco (in the wrong direction as you can tell if you know the area) there are actually bicyclists in a pack with HELMETS on riding past the car. How could they miss that in editing?
I love this book. I loved the original movie. This movie had a lot of pretty scenery, but the exterior of the house was disappointing. In the book it is described as the most beautiful house in England. It is pretty in the movie, but doesn't fit the description nor the house in the amazing original movie. It also comes across as cheap production value when we only see the same room/hallway. The interior was beautiful, but so much happened...the ball, etc. in the one room. Armie Hammer is very attractive, and I still like the movie. Unfortunately, the four other people I asked to watch it with me complained the whole time. I was pretty bummed by that, because I love the book and first movie so much I wanted to convince them this was a good story, but now they don't believe me. I just think it is amazing Netflix gets away with everything. They could do so well, because they have so much money, but don't seem to care. The poor independent films that are trying so hard and are pretty good, get trashed by audiences. But, magically on Netflix things are good?
The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014)

Mulan (2020)
What happened?
This wasn't anything like the Disney movie. It was over the top ridiculous and had no charm. We tried, but didn't finish it.
Enola Holmes (2020)
Disappointing
I was really excited to see this. There was nothing else new and I thought this looked cute. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish it. It was just boring and couldn't hold the interest of me or my family so we turned it off.
The Doorman (2020)
Good Escapism I loved it
I watched this movie to just have a nice evening, not have to think about issues, just enjoy a film. It was a fun film!. I liked the characters, liked the action and I'm not even a big action movie fan. Just enjoy it and don't criticize so much. Jean Reno is super cool too!
Downton Abbey (2019)
So happy to see the familiar faces back at Downton Abbey
This movie was beautiful and it was so nice to reconnect with the characters I fell in love with during the series. This one brought back the opulence of the first three seasons without continually complaining or looking for far fetched subplots. Really enjoyed it!!
The English Game (2020)
Amazing and appropriate for any age.
This is beautiful and interesting. There is nothing offensive or inappropriate at all. It is a mix of Downton Abbey with sport and a true story. Therefore, even guys who would never watch Downton Abbey will watch this and really like it. It really fits everyone.
I Hate Kids (2019)
FUNNY, FUNNY COMEDY
Some really funny moments. Well acted. It was like a postcard for Los Angeles which I liked. I liked the happy ending
