Phoenix (1998)

good job
9 September 2005
I came into this movie as it was added on DVD to Playboy magazine. At first I didn't know what to expect. There were two options: 1) that it will suck tremendously 2) that it will be one of those movies that no one has heard yet they come out as little pearls waiting to be discovered. Frotunately #2 was the case of this one.Of course I was drawn into it by the cast. I mean Liotta, LaPaglia and Houston couldn't be that mad. Then as the subtitles at the beginning revealed the following cast: Murphy, Ribbisi, Esposito I was sure that "Phoenix" couldn't have been the wrong choice. And it wasn't. I know it's not bringing much new to the topic of dirty cops theme, but it gives a great look at gambling addict. The plot is basically combination of three: 1) addiction (gambling) 2) dirty cops 3) heist

and it is a well crafted combination. There is action, humour, beautiful women:). There are turning points. The screenplay is good so is the cast and it makes one wonder why it didn't get better fate (worldwide cinema distribution etc). Well no need in complaining. We can be happy it just IS. Because it is intelligent and highly entertaining movie.

Best regards

Juwanna Mann (2002)

awful
30 July 2005
This could be one of the worst and most stupid movies I've ever seen. It is so stupid, cliché and badly written that it's nearly impossible to sit through. Plus it has Lil Kim PLAYING A MODEL!! That's enough even for me. I mean I can sit through a bad movie if it has something (anything!) in it. I even survived "The Island of The Dead" (which was so bad that it was actually funny at times). But this is just bad and it isn't funny though it's a comedy! That should be punishable "The horror, the horror..."

PS. I can't understand what Vivica Fox is doing here? She seems to be taking every role they give her.

Grind (2003)

really bad
8 July 2005
This film is really bad. And there's no difference if one is in or not into skateboarding. I'm a not a die hard skate fan but I enjoy the sport. And skateboarding in this movie is shown well. That's for sure. But this is a fiction movie not CKY. And everything besides skating is bad: the screenplay, dialogue, acting and directing. The film isn't funny at all. Although it tries hard all actors are just stinky bad so it doesn't stand a chance. Vince Vieluf is rather weak actor but the film is so bad that he is somehow the funniest of the cast. The rest isn't worth your time. You have few quest star appearances (like Bam Margera who, by the way is also hopeless at acting) but it won't save it. It tries hard to be funny and cool but it's boring (it took me two days to finish it). I sincerely do not recommend it.

Mo' Money (1992)

decent

I can't agree that this is a bad movie. I think it's funny and has a certain charm to it (thanks to incredible Stacey Dash and Damon Wayans). It's not The Thin Red Line but what did you expect? I expected a light and entertaining movie and that's exactly what it is. Nothing more nothing less. I would give it a 7 note but Stacey Dash deserves 2 more points:). For her alone this film is worth watching. But beside of her it has a nice romantic plot, the action plot isn't too sophisticated but it's enjoyable. The movie is a bit like a fairy tale(again thanks to Stacey Dash) but that gives it a lot of charm and I always enjoy watching it. I would highly recommend it if you want something light and easy for the evening.

The Drew Carey Show (1995–2004)
8/10
should have finished after Ferguson and Miller left...
23 May 2004
Warning: Spoilers
I live in Poland, the latest of Drew Carey that was aired here were the 2000 episodes-first episodes without Craig Ferguson (as a regular) and without Christa Miller. Of course every scene with Ryan Stiles and Diedrich Bader was show stealing. I could even bare Drew Carey in the earlier seasons, sometimes he was even...funny but in this season he was just annoying, he was really horrible trying so hard to be funny when he..well let's face the truth..isn't. Stiles and Bader have that "something" which makes every scene they appear in funny at start. The latest season was really sad to watch and the guys that played Drew's bosses were the worst actors I have seen in my life it just makes me wonder how in the name of God did they got casted?!I hope they end the show soon...so we can leave the best seasons in our memory...and save themselves the disgrace.Since everyone that was funny is systematically leaving the show it can soon be turned into one man show (Drew Carey). I know that he is getting paid well but come on...it's a line not worth crossing...

Get Well Soon (2001)
very poor
22 May 2004
this is a very poor romantic comedy. it was not very romantic and also not very funny.and Vincent Gallo really annoyed me with gestures, appearance and his voice.Courteney Cox looks very nice as always but she can't do much to save this movie because it just lacks a good screenplay.the story isn't really interesting, the love story isn't much believable as the characters constantly find a new problem why they can't be together when you thought there was none. they love each other, we know it, and they know it but they try to make the film to last a little longer than an hour. and Gallo whining all the time is really horrible. I don't know maybe it's me but I found him very, very annoying in this flick.happy end is of course just a matter of time but the characters try to make the way leading to it as long and as pseudo-philosophical as they can. It is a watchable movie, it has Courteney Cox but that's really everything. if you have a sleepless night and you find it airing on cable it can be a good time killer.

great but too short
17 May 2004
this is a great video.but it hurts that it's so short, because I can't get enough of pearl jam:) anyways I would make it a bit differently: I would divide every song as one chapter with comments from the bands on how it was recording it, how it was written etc.I think that there should be some extras.but we can't complain because it's a great insight on how great musicians work and how masterpieces are created. It also shows that they are as usual people as anyone of us:they argue, they are bored, laugh and prank each other.as I watched I noticed that the atmosphere in their studio was similar as when I record with my band:) it's a must have for any PJ fan but also for a any music fan.If you want to see the magic of creating music
