The Art of Racing in the Rain (2019)
Not just another dog movie!
If you're expecting this to be another dog movie, this isn't it! It IS An incredible human nature story from a very wise dog's point of view. When Kevin Costner as Enzo the Golden Lab, begins narrating, you wonder, is this what my dog really thinks? But, then this incredible story of love, family, sadness, foregivess, and then triumph unfolds. Make sure you bring plenty of tissues, because it's a real tear jerker, without being patronizing. I would recommend this for anyone!
Btw Saw this on a 4 hour flight from Phoenix to Atlanta. What a great surprise for an in-flight movie!
The Adventures of Brer Rabbit (2006)
Great memories brought to life
Growing up in Atlanta down the street from "The Wrens Nest", the birthplace of Brer Rabbit, and his wonderful friends, as a child I read all of the Uncle Remus stories, and knew them well. The only variance from the original stories, is the substitution of Brer Turtle for Uncle Remus. Otherwise they are great morality tales mixed with a lot of fun, and quite authentic including the tar baby, the laughing place, and the proverbial briar patch. It's thoroughly enjoyable, and I would recommend this to anyone young or old!
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)
Lion Witch & Wardrobe Down the Rabbit Hole to Willy Wonka
Unfortunately, great actors and wonderful special effects could make up for this jumbled story line. What could have been a wonderful back story to either Tchaikovsky's incredible classic suite, or E.T.A. Hoffman's story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" was nothing more than a failed attempt to duplicate previously told stories! While it was enjoyable, it failed to live up to the expectations set by having The Nutcracker in its title!
Hart of Dixie (2011)
Too Bad!!! It had great potential!
I hopefully tuned in thinking we could see something authentically Southern, like "Steel Magnolias", or "Fried Green Tomatoes". This doesn't even come up to the level of "The Dukes of Hazzard".
Love the premise. But Unfortunately, this seems to be just another Hollywood version of "The South". The clichés are abundant, from the Blonde with big red lips, the gossipy Southern Women, and the horrible Southern drawls. The only thing authentic about this series is the pilot being filmed in Wilmington, NC. With future episodes being filmed in LA, I am wondering how it can can improve.
I may watch again, with the hope of it getting better.
