A journey toward discovering values
26 December 2018
I enjoyed riding along with the characters on their road to discovering openness, closure, beliefs, and values. With a soft touch and deep connection, this film challenged what I say I believe and confronted me with the crisis of facing what I really believe, and what I'm willing to do to be true to myself, loving to others, and reflecting the character of the divine.

What the film lacked in budget and seasoned acting, it made up for in connection to the landscape, connection with the characters, and a message that was deep and provoking while still being gentle and accessible.

I would recommend this as a must-see for anyone who is struggling with a sense of loss from their tribe or rejection from their authority figures, and is ready to ask the deep questions of what it means to love, and what it takes to live a life faithful to our beliefs.

Somebody has a great understanding of culture
20 December 2003
As a person who has spent half his life on each side of the 49th parallel, I was delightfully impressed with this movie. There were countless cultural statements and innuendos that were absolutely hilarious. I can certainly see how someone unfamiliar with Canadian tradition and culture might not 'get' this movie. However, if you've lived in, visited, or known someone from Canada, this movie will provide non-stop laughs. Canada was certainly slapped in the face a number of times, but the balance was fair, with the Canadians scoring a number of blows against the Americans. Definitely worth the watch if you've got ties to Canada, otherwise it may seem silly and pointless.
