Stowaway (2021)
So dumb !
Right from the start, this movie doesn't make any sense. 3 astronauts liff off with their helmets open. How dumb is that. And this 3 "astronauts" are on a 2 years mission to mars. Yes only 3 ! In the first 2 minutes, I knew this movie was made by people who did'nt do any research on space programs. At a time where anyone can watch launh, spacewalks, ... on the NASA channel, it's a real shame !
I tried to give several chances to this movie, before giving up because it was so dumb. How Toni Collette could sign for that, i'll never know.
After that, i watched for the 100th time my favorite space film : Apollo 13.
Doctor Who: Asylum of the Daleks (2012)
Can we have new ideas ???
*SPOILERS*
Since the reborn of Doctor Who, we have seen the Daleks in every series, making them less and less terrifying (we even had a "funny" cameo in the series 7!). "Asylum of the Daleks" is a good example of how the Daleks are boring now.
The episode start with Amy and Rory getting divorce and as the same moment being abducted by the Daleks. Good timing isn't it ! We all wonder what's going to happen, especially when there's no reason at all to abduct them ! So we have Rory and Amy in a similar story as ... well almost every story they've been in : a "heartbreaking" love story including Rory death or Amy amnesia. This time, Moffat couldn't choose between the two options, so we have Rory ALMOST being killed and Amy ALMOST having amnesia. If Moffat has no idea of what to do with two characters played wonderfully by two great actors, he should stop writing stories.
Here, the Daleks couldn't even frightened a kid of 5 years old and we have hundreds of them in the episode. There are here to ask "help" from the Doctor. Yes, that's not logical, but it's written by Steven Moffat after all ! The rest of the episode is old ideas from Moffat, just change a little for the audience to think it's genius. Here we have nanocloud that turn people into some sort for daleks. That's totally different from nanogene that turn people in ... something weird. We have skeletons wearing white clothes who want to kill the Doctor and his companions, exactly like in "Forest of the dead". We have a girl who can control anything from some kind of appartement but she doesn't know she's a dalek. In "Forest of the dead" we have a young girl who can control anything in the library from her house but she doesn't know she's a robot. The "big" revelation that the girl is in fact a dalek, we can so easily see it coming. And what to say about the fact that the voice of the girl was normal until we can see it's a dalek : a plot hole.
There is also stupid things like The Doctor using his screwdriver to see if a crew of skeletons is dead ?!?! The Doctor who stay pridely in front of hundreds of Daleks thinking that they're gonna kill him, but in the end, he's scared to death in front of 6 or 7 daleks ?!?!? The Doctor saying to Amy that scared isn't Dalek after saying that they were scared of him ?!?! The Daleks that don't want to destroy the inmates Daleks and detroy them with the entire planet in the end ?!?! My favorite one is the shield around the planet to keep the inmates daleks that can only be control FROM the planet?!?!
To sum up, this episode is exactly what Steven Moffat use to give the audience : an illogical story with plot holes that he fills with explosions and great lines. The actors are good, the direction is good, it's great visually. But there's nothing new, nothing really interesting. At least, we didn't see weeping angels, it will be later in the series for sure !
The Departed (2006)
A real shame
This film is so overrated. Martin Scorsese gave us a poor copy of the masterpiece "Infernal Affairs" and everybody applause. He received an Oscar for best motion picture for it. It's such a shame, it's revolting. I can understand that they wanted to reward Scorsese for his career but they rewarded a bad remake.
1- It's a lame plagiarism ! 2- DiCaprio is very good,as usual. Maybe HE is the only good reason to see it. But Tony Leung is unforgettable for this character. 3- It's rude for no good reason. 4- It's a 2h30 film. Scorsese did a confused remake that's almost 1 hour longer than the original. There's definitely something wrong here.
I'm sure that the people who love this film, didn't see the original. Well, if you read this, go watch Infernal Affairs. You will see that's an amazing film. And you will understand why some people think Departed is awful.
Doctor Who: The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe (2011)
Moffat keep ruining Doctor Who
I'm not a huge fan of Doctor Who Christmas specials, but this episode was definitely the worst ever. Steven Moffat gave us a story that doesn't make any sense, as usual.
The episode starts with the Doctor destroying a spaceship on his own. Then he falls from space to Earth with just a spacesuit to "protect" him. How this opening scene can be more wrong !
- Since when the Doctor became a man who destroy everything, with his screwdriver in his hand ! I thought The Doctor was a genius, a scientific man, someone who use his brain to solve a problem !
- The Doctor run in a great EMPTY corridor with nobody to stop him. Is the huge spaceship empty ??? No one tries to stop The Doctor or even run or scream ! And where is The Doctor running to ??? The TARDIS ? Well, The Tardis is on Earth ! How The doctor get on board then, and why ? Is The Doctor totally stupid to blow up a ship with no escape for him ?!
- Apparently I was wrong to think that Doctor Who was a science-fiction series, because in this "brilliant" opening scene we can see that there is fresh air in SPACE, that we can SWIM in SPACE, that someone can survive without breathing, that someone can fall from space and crash on Earth without harm and even make jokes right after the crash !!!!!
There's only one way this opening could work, it's in a "Scary movie"; which is NOT a compliment of course.
And if it was just the opening that was wrong, but the plot is even more ridiculous after that. There's not a single scene that makes sense, except perhaps the last scene with Amy and Rory.
To sum up, this episode is visually beautiful, Matt Smith did his best for the audience to forget the nonsense script, but it's not enough unfortunately. I think Steven Moffat should quit because he didn't write a good script since the RTD era.
Doctor Who: The Wedding of River Song (2011)
It doesn't make any sense
When I saw this finale episode, I really wonder if Steven Moffat was thinking when he decide "to kill" the Doctor in The Impossible Astronaut.
1- Why the plot is the death of the Doctor in the series 6. Everybody know that's not gonna happen, so we don't care about that for the whole series. And then, we can see that the "fantastic" idea behind the Doctor death was that it was a .... robot. Yes, of course, if you forget that a robot can't START A REGENERATION or move as fast and normal as a really being, well it's a idea. But come on, the kiss is between River Song and a robot.
2- Rory and Amy don't remember each other. Please, after the many "death" of Rory and Amy losing her memories, we have AGAIN that kind of story between them. Why, just why ! It's just too much. Moffat really knows how to kill the interest we have for some characters. By the way, Rory and Amy, they won the award of the careless parents in the universe !
3- River Song. At first, i was thrilled by her story. And now, all I want is her to disappear from the show. I don't care about a Mary Sue who tell out loud that she loves the Doctor more than anyone in the universe. I still don't get why the Doctor decide to marry her. I mean there NO REASON for him to GET MARRIED here. Just WHY !!!
4- The episode is about the fact that time stopped because a fix point doesn't happen. It was a great idea, but the way it was shown, was NOT interesting. It just didn't make anysense! The time stopped BUT people are not, they're just living in a world where all periods of History is mix up. It makes as much sense as the robot Doctor, meaning anysense.
To sum up, the episode bring interesting ideas, but the result doesn't make anysense. It's boring. Take out the music and the great visual and you have nothing interesting to watch.
