Fauda (2015)
Became a little too much like an ultra-violent soap opera in third series
Liked the first two seasons a lot, but series three definitely tipped over into melodrama, involving too many improbable coincidences and contrived situations for comfort. The show even became quite soapy in places, with the Doron character sweeping every female character off her feet, in spite of looking like Vin Diesel's tubbier brother! He was a problem for me in other ways as well, mainly to do with his almost pathologically unwillingness to obey orders. Would any special forces unit really go to war with someone so unstable in their ranks? Still worth watching, but lost quite a bit of its realistic feel.
The Sinner: Part VIII (2020)
Pretty bad
None of this made any sense. The villain seemed to have no real motive for becoming a multiple murderer. The detective pulled a lot of strange faces while coming across as the most ineffective policeman since the Keystone Cops. The plot was frankly ludicrous, as if it was nothing more than a series of set-ups to allow the villain to moan about life having no meaning. The first season was brilliant. The second, while a bit ludicrous, managed to hold my interest. This one was almost like going through some sort of obstacle course.
