Jury Duty (2023)
I can't believe how much I am enjoying this!!
It's been a long time since I've had a series that I can't get enough of. I discovered this masterpiece on a random reel and it has been the best discovery so far. The premise is very simple but the execution is just "chef's kiss". The actors are great at their roles and do a great job at not breaking character.
It has been a long time since I've watched something on my own and have to stop it because it makes me laugh so hard.
Thank you for this amazing lighthearted content. This is exactly what I need to disconnect from everything that is happening these days. Highly recommend it!
By the way, I was late to work today because I couldn't get myself to stop watching the night before.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Impossible for me to accept this as good after watching the original trilogy.
Sorry, not sorry. I'm a fan of the books and Tolkien and all of the lore. I loved the work Peter Jackson did. I wanted this show to be great but even though it is not bad, it lacks the cinematic magic of the original trilogy.
A big budget doesn't necessarily make the writing and content any better.
I understand that you have to let others have a go at it. PJ wasn't going to keep doing LOTR movies for the rest of his career, but this series tries to steal and badly adapt the soundtrack and lighting and accents IMO.
The series is not bad. I gave it a 5. It is entertaining and I hope it gets better.
I really really wanted this show to be amazing :(
The Guardians of Justice (2022)
Reminds me of a Robert Rodriguez movie mashup
This was very entertaining show to watch this weekend. I don't understand all the hate from other viewers. If you are expecting a marvel or DC style series, this is not it.
If you like B movies and weird mash ups, this is a nice change of pace of everything that is available nowadays.
Very creative cheap special effects and acting is not good, but I liked the show nonetheless.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Visually entertaining, and that's it.
Got interested in the movie because of the high rating. I'm 1 hour in and now I started to check the reviews. Most 10 star reviews seem to be from bots, so no wonder. I'm high AF so the colors look nice, but the story is not really good.
And also, can we stop having Ben Affleck as Batman?
Shingeki no Kyojin: The War Hammer Titan (2021)
Wooooooow!!
The title says if all. I had to rewatch mikasa over and over again slicing that jaw. What an amazing execution to break the tension and suspense. I'm amazed at how many times this show has given me goosebumps because of all the twists and turns in the storyline. This was one of my favorite episodes so far.
I'm so happy to be alive right now to be able to see this show!
Hard Kill (2020)
The preview snippet alone shows how bad this movie will be
Don't know why I started watching this. I saw the snippet and Bruce Willis' acting was really bad there already. Think it was probably the nostalgia thinking it would be something close to die hard. No way jose. This is as bad as it gets.
The Last Dance (2020)
The Michael Jordan of sports documentaries!
Watching this reminds me that nothing will ever be as magical as watching those bulls championships with the eyes of a kid. Everybody wanted to be like mike when I was growing up. This team was amazing. This documentary manages to captivate all the drama and the amazing moments of that era. Great storytelling in all episodes so far.
No social media was available back then. Feels like 10
Episodes will not be enough to encompass all the moments we should have known about if we had Twitter or Instagram back then.
Best team I will ever see in my lifetime. Even if I have the chance to see another athlete/team in my life that is better than those bulls, I will forever be biased towards this team. Saw them as a kid. Nothing can top that.
Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez (2020)
Entertaining but...
Overall a well made and entertaining doc, but there's so much emphasis on him smoking weed and that being part of what caused the whole thing. Don't get it that we're in 2020 and there's still so much stuff on demonizing marijuana.
The Witcher (2019)
Want to like it but...
I really like these kind of series/movies, but this one doesn't really convince me. First thought was that Netflix is trying to find their own hit like game of thrones. Then I gave the show a chance and I am still not fully convinced. I remember it took me a couple of times to get hooked on GOT, so I hope that season 2 is better. I remember that when I started GOT I was expecting something like lord of the rings, which it wasn't. The first season seemed cheesy to me and I was expecting good visual effects, but then it kept getting better. Hope the Witcher can improve in the next season. Was not a fan of the humor. Was expecting a darker show, which it is not. Don't like the acting and the dialogue seems kind of flat. Visual effects look cheap but I get it. It takes time and success for the show to be able to afford better effects in future seasons.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Saw it... merited my first review on IMDB
What did I just see? I saw that it was available on Netflix and I said to myself: at least the special effects should be cool. They were cool, but nowadays that is the minimum you can expect from a large budget movie.
What a boring flat story. The special effects did not make up for the fact that this has to be the worst Star Wars movie ever.
Same story as always. Rebels fighting the force at underdogs and succeeding.... yet again. Acting and dialogues were totally bad.
Worst of it all, there are so many points in the movie where you just think: what? They can do that? Or, why is this totally random event happening? Heroes about to die? No worries. Some guy that we never heard of appears or thin air and gives heroes a lift out of danger...
