MacGruber (2010)
Unbelievable!
It is unbelievable that:
1: two world renowned comedic actors, Will Forte and Kristen Wiig have teamed up to produce a horrific catastrophe of near biblical proportion!
2: a movie with five highly qualified actors can make a financial flop. The movie opened on, May 21, 2010 and closed the beginning of June 2010. To make this film, the budget was around $10,000,000. The film's total gross revenue was $8,460,995. That's 91.4%! (Poor investors!) Lorne Michaels should be ashamed to put his name on this!
3: the writer Jorma Taccone previous and only movie Extreme Movie (2008) received a pitiful 4.0 on IMDb's reviewer approval scale. Shouldn't that have raised a RED flag saying STAY AWAY FROM this writer? Lorne Michaels should be ashamed to put his name on this!
4: even with SNL's Maya Rudolph – in films; Away We Go (2009), Idiocracy (2006) and an A-Lister Ryan Phillippe – in films; Crash (2004), Breach (2007) and Stop-Loss (2008) these two actors along with bee-sting victim Val Kilmer could not have pulled the script up from a flat-line. What I said about Mr. Michaels also applies here.
5: with IMDb's view appreciation rating, either you like this film or you don't. I would say, for those who like it also liked; Catwoman (2004) – IMDb rating: 3.2*, Gigli (2003) – IMDb rating: 2.4* and The Garbage Pail Kids Movie (1987) – IMDb rating: 2.7*. Take this films IMDb rating with a grain of salt.
6. five adult, tried-and-true A-List and top-of-the-list comic actors would allow their managers to sign-on to a weak story line driven by toilet paper script. Simply put, it's just sad
If I were one of these actors, I would fire my manager.
Well, it's my opinion...
Zeusest!
PS: Please film industry, don't make me write another negative review
* Film Industry, here are two suggestions:
1: To improve the entire Film Industry, movie producers, DO NOT produce a screenplay from a script written by Will Forte & Jorma Taccone. If it's done, the world will know they have a twinkling low voltage light bulb in their attic. And who wants that? (I refuse to even think that Tina Fee had any part of the writing this incarnation. Her pen writes gold!)
2: The Film Industry doesn't have a genre entitled, "CRAP!" Hey, the originators of cinema back in 1911, to improve the standard of your cinema submissions and over-all quality of the industry put in place the film genre of, "CRAP!" This would keep the writers, directors, producers and actors from spitting out non recyclable garbage just to try and make money. If they do, they would ALL get the label of being part of, "CRAP!" And who wants that?
Trail of the Pink Panther (1982)
An insult to a comical genius and his profession
Trail of the Pink Panther (1982) - On 24 July 1980, Mr. Peter Sellers had past away prior to making this film. Sellers' third wife, Lynne Frederick, won a $1.475 million lawsuit against the makers of this film. She said the film insulted the memory of her late husband - I must agree! Sure there were some nice clips that made me chuckle, but really Mr. Frank Waldman! (The screenplay writer) Mr. Steve Martin is scheduled to continue the Pink Panther crusade in none other than "THE PINK PANTHER" opening on September 23, 2005. One must agree, no one can put on the long pants Sellers pranced around, fell down and got back up in quite as well. Although, seeing Martin take on many characters he does have a knack of making a character his own. Perhaps he'll add some witty element(s) Sellers had neglected or the times would not consent to. (Unlikely) Or, perhaps Martin will create a new character using a template Sellers had developed. (More Likely) Bottom-Line: Maybe it's just me, but when a world-renowned physical comedy actor passes away it is insulting to clip together a film intern creating a mockery of what Sellers believed so hole-hardily in - an original honest laugh. Sally and Angela (2001)
Yawn...
Sally & Angela is a story of two low budget Italian assassins on their way to a hit. The combination of a brother, a sister and many dim-witted choices far out way their bad luck. The short film begins ruff and slow. The cinematography is good, costumes were fine, most of the time the acting was all right, audio trek was needed better transitions but the storyline could have been preformed in less than four minutes. The writer and director, Mr. Mark Wilkinson probably got his start writing for a reality television program turning a ten minutes story into a two-hour program.
Annunziata Gianzero plays Angela a convincing Italian assassin. I am surprised she has not done anything besides this and Dischord (2001). Terrance J. Rotolo plays Sally. I was surprised he has been in, A Gothic Romance (2004), La Femme Musketeer (2003), Special Forces (2003), The Bacchae (2002) after his `Okay' performance in this production.
One of the most distracting aspects of Sally & Angela is, not the fact that within the same scene the sun changes position all over the sky, not the fact that after filling the car with bullet holes it starts, not the fact that Angela can shoot the trunk open with a 12gage shotgun without exploding and note even the fact that every five seconds the sky changes from cloudy to clear it is, when was the last time you knew of an Italian mob family operating in or around an Arizona desert? Don't even say Vegas baby!
