Caught by surprise...
18 January 2019
Caught by surprise is an appropriate heading for this review, as this movie certainly achieved that for me...

Found this movie difficult to walk away from, themes simple and common, yet the challenge so many of us face kept my attention from start to finish.

François Cluzet's portrayal of Yann Kermadec certainly rang true for myself.

Such frustration certainly many have felt at other times, yet here the message clearer, that first we need avoid knee-jerk, so allow time so for us to consider our position, how we should wish to be treated, then work through it...

Samy Seghir as Mano Ixa certainly my sympathy was for, reminder of why refugees need both be fully and properly considered for their reasons resulting in their actions. (Such positions governments often to timid to actually take considering basic human rights.)

Certainly worth viewing and considering for others who may experience so need understand the dillemma's faced by so many as events unfold..

Nordic Drama

Excellent series.

Am long term addict to the SBS presentations of video shows from around the world.

Viewed by self on Australia's "sbs.com.au" with SBS English transcripts.

Be interesting to see how many IMDb users now classify themselves as addict transcript readers for other language origin programs like this Nordic drama.

Australian humour
13 April 2017
Was not expecting very much, however thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

Some scenes perhaps could be improved, however most just seemed to fit.

Perhaps it is more for those who listen to words spoken.

Like other humour listening is required to avoid becoming missing the meaning of what it is about.

11.6 (2013)

11.6 (9 stars)

Is a while since a movie has left me feeling unfinished, however 11.6 achieved this.

The movie is based on the story of Toni Musulin, a French security van driver who made headlines when was claimed he drove off with his security truck one day. Did he, or did he not ? With 11.6 million euros on board whether he took it or not is IMHO not so clear. While the movie paints his as the evil conspirator, however IMHO this not so clear. Sure he appears to be the robber, however IMHO their remains room to doubt this is the facts.

Yes, I did feel (almost) he deserved to recover the money ;-)

As humans we have a sense of reasonable. Treatment of Toni Musulin as an employee almost qualifies his (alleged) behavior,

Despite the movie, I find NOT so clear whether he actually stole the money...

OK the movie paints the thinking to justify the plot of the movie, yet it still leaves doubt - however faint that may be, in the mind of viewers.....

Any movie which leaves such doubt in our minds, IMHO is excellent.

Facts are rarely as clear as the case presented by prosecutors ;-)

It kept me wondering the entire movie, so well worth watching :-)

Leningrad (2009)

emotions effect our strength..
1 August 2015
Found outstanding performance by Olga Sutulova as "Nina Tsvetkova" Mira Katherine Sorvino as "Kate Davies" excellent also.

They depict well the determination and commitment essential for success, as true reminders how so many of us enable far smaller barriers to overcome us.

Entire video each time leaves me with great sadness and sympathy for citizens of then Leningrad, for their suffering and sacrifice endured, while at same time great thanks to them for the meaning now attached to the word Leningrad, as a reminder of true endurance.

The word Leningrad, or memory at other memorials, always for a moment generates sadness, then thanks to them for their example of real endurance, real suffering, of real struggle when facing adversity.

They a reminder and encouragement to us all to show determination as we face lesser challenges...
