Kevin Smith Didn't Disappoint Me!!!!
10 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is absolutely hilarious and is my tops of 2007 as far as comedies go. I didn't think it was possible for Forgetting Sarah Marshall to be one upped by any movie, but Zack and Miri did the trick. The dialog is full of witty banter and had me rolling on the ground for most of the movie. I mean you knew the whole movie what the outcome was going to be as far as the two main characters was concerned, but it was a hilarity ensued journey. Craig Robinson was a scene stealer most definitely! The drunk guy that walks in on the first scene of their shoot cracked me up beyond belief. I mean just when I think Kevin Smith can't make a funnier movie than his last, he goes and does it. Even if your not a fan of his movies, your going to love this film. Most of this movie reminds me of my best friend and I, but we'd never sleep together and definitely aren't in love. Just the way they interact with each other is very reminiscent of her and I. I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone that wants to have a movie filled with gut busting laughter!!! Kudos Kevin Smith!!!!! Elizabeth Banks stock is rising and it's about time, because she is a gem in this film as well, so is Seth Rogen. All the characters in this film do a marvelous job....hands down the funniest movie so far of 2007!!

Subpar at best and disappointing because of the great actors!
2 February 2008
This movie extremely disappointed me! I remember watching the trailer months prior to its release, so I was pretty excited for it. I really enjoy most of the Happy Madison films, but this one was a complete bummer! I love Jonah Hill and Steve Zahn is just as good. Not to mention the cast of characters that usually appear in these films, specifically Allen Covert of Grandma's Boy. I really loved that movie, so I then put faith that this one would be somewhat comparable, but quite the contrary. I mean there was some funny and sometimes hilarious parts, but it was just a stretch. They tried way too hard for laughs and some of the time they did succeed, but fell short quite numerously! Jonah Hill's character got few lines, but when he did, they were fairly funny. I did enjoy Justin Long as he is coming into his own as an actor. Kevin Heffernan didn't get nearly enough funny lines or the proper camera time he deserved, I mean he's Farva for the love of god, the man is funny. With all this being said, wait for the DVD. Poor plot, great actors, but wrongly used their talents! Severely disappointed in this film.....I even went opening night I was so excited.....stupid film.....not even a stoner flick at best and trust me I love stoner flicks!

Reefer Madness surprised and shocked me. Come to find out there are some great actors in the Showtime edition.

When it comes to musicals I usually don't enjoy them too much. However it seems to me that the cast they assembled for this remake was quite star studded, which usually means a clash of ego's. This however was not the case. John Kassir aka"The Crypt Keeper," was the sleeper in this one. He was absolutely flawless in his portrayal of Ralph, a reefer addicted lunatic. Next I'd say that Kristen Bell was the other sleeper of this movie and quite the bombshell. She was perfect to play Mary Lane and good lord almighty the girl can sing and dance. That is what surprised me about this up and coming actress. Ana Gasteyer was also a pleasant surprise as Mae, she can sing, dance and still deliver a perfect punchline. Steven Weber post "Wings," days has really done some great things since leaving that show and now he's had the fortunate chance to land the role of Jack, a reefer salesman with no conscience. Anyhow, I could go on about this remake of the 1936 original, but it would really do it no justice. If you want to be entertained and laugh I would suggest checking this movie out. I enjoyed it thoroughly and think most people would as well.
