Wonderful Tribute
18 January 2022
I loved every minute of this film documenting this remarkable woman who had such an impact in the entertainment industry. Many interviews with those who worked with her over her decades of being on television mainly, the Mary Tyler Moore Show, the Golden Girls and Hot in Cleveland series. Many of those interviewed have since passed away and that makes it extra special that those interviews were done before we lost them also. Betty White was a national treasure and because she has been in our living rooms through the magic of those excellent TV series, she feels like a beloved great aunt or grandmother figure. We will always have the Golden Girls whenever we miss her. Highly recommend this documentary!

The Colors of Love
17 January 2013
I LOVED this movie! Stumbled upon it by a happy accident and was thrilled to find it! It is very seductive and alive with energy and explores love and sexuality and how these characters refuse to be limited in their lives and how they express that love. It's very realistic and the acting and writing is very good and the look of the movie has high production values and great direction! I love indie films because they are brave enough to explore themes you rarely see in main stream films. Alvaro Cervantes who plays Rai is poised for stardom and he could seduce anyone into falling in love with him. Highly recommend this film!!

Beautiful Dream
17 July 2012
I saw the film last night at the Outfest Film Festival in Los Angeles. This is a visually beautiful new film about James Dean, the iconic actor who is still very revered and loved and whose film legacy still continues strong 57 years after his death. This is not the typical biopic though, it gets into details about his life that were not well known until recently. James Preston is excellent playing James Dean expressing his ambition and vulnerability, willing to play the game in Hollywood to get a chance and still keeping the powers that be from ruling or controlling him. He was a rebel in the sense that he wanted to be true to himself and his talent above all else and lived and experienced a great deal and achieved his dream by the age of 24 when he died. The film takes place in the few years before his acting led to the three films he would do eventually that would propel his star and fame and became his legacy. He's in the process here of becoming a real actor and starting to understand who he wants to be as a man. In 1951 Dean was only 20 and he was trying to figure himself out and those around him and to understand what's important to him. Much of the film seems like almost dream like sequences or partial scene memories filmed in beautiful black and white striking images, the cinematography is top notch! I've read biographies on Dean's life and the movie is accurate from the accounts I've read. The director/writer Matthew Mishory, did a very good job making a film about his subject in a way that's unique and hasn't been done in the same way before. The supporting cast is very good as well. I recommend seeing it and I'm looking forward to seeing it again!

Finally a gay themed movie that is about something real!!
4 March 2004
Finally a gay themed story that is about something real!!! I can't wait for the DVD with hopefully some great extras like interviews with the cast and director to find out more. I didn't want this movie to end. The entire cast and writing is excellent! The struggle between religion and sexuality and being true to oneself continues today, just look at the battle for gay marriage. Why would God make somebody gay at birth and then condemn them later for being themselves? That concept just doesn't make sense. This is just the kind of movie the religious right as well as everybody who believes in love should see. Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved with this wonderful film!
