Young Sheldon (2017)
Losing it's identity
Massive fan of Big Bang Theory. This has followed up on that with some excellent casting and new ways of mining Sheldon's character for comedy gold. Missy steals a scene or three with brilliant sass & it took me until season 4 to realise Meemaw is the receptionist in Ghostbusters which blew my mind.
The first three seasons where brilliant. But halfway into season four i started to feel like a mistake or deficiency was occurring here, similar to what we saw in Big Bang. Big Bang slowly softened the funniest edges of Sheldon's character after Amy was introduced & it lost the opportunity to keep the laughs rolling in. Here, the writers have either run out of jokes / funny plots or are choosing to allow too much of a drama element into the series, with too much focus paid to supporting characters when a one dimensional series concentrating on Sheldon would enable it to retain the largely comedic focus that would keep me watching.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
They Insist On Screwing With The Characters & Timelines
Another character that is integral to the storyline yet we've never heard of her because it's a different timeline. Kate Brewster was integral to rise of the machines but we haven't heard from her since. Constant rejigging with the same storyline is so boring. I know nothing will be as good as 1 & 2 but i just don't like the way they create the plot & it could so easily be better.
Office Christmas Party (2016)
Does what it says on the tin - raucous fun
If you've never watched Horrible Bosses, i'd watch this first as it does pale in comparison. Jennifer Aniston has less to go on but still reaches the ceiling of the role. I was excited when i saw kate McKinnon in the credits, but she deserves way more than 'straight-laced, PC minding, HR boss'. But again, she does everything she can with it. It wasn't evident until the end, so i'm not sure but i think there's a huge plot hole that could have been easily avoided. You just have to turn down the expectation meter and then you can enjoy this
Sausage Party (2016)
Adult Animated Comedy
Ever wondered what a head-on collision between Chicken Run & Animal Farm would look like? Find out the answer here. It even invents a new genre - supermarket satire. After a strong opening the middle goes a bit cuckoo as it attempts to introduce a plot most of which it doesn't need, but the finish is well worth a watch
