Father Stu (2022)
A good lesson
One has to have a mature mind to understand this picture, I read other reviews five minutes in to decide if I will watch the entire film/movie and the clarity for me was that its Mark Wahlberg, so has to be worth watching or else he wouldn't have made this production, and a bonus Mel Gibson plays his Dad. The only issue is as with any film, the story is cut into a time slot, although, I have to admit when it's dragged out as a series it gets way too dramatised and we forget the plot so, I'm giving this 8/10 for being just emotional enough to see it to the end and let me shed a tear or two or three or more.
Family Switch (2023)
Let's have some fun with the concept
After reading a few reviews on here and accross the Internet, I decided to actually give it a go all the way through. One reviewer said it was lots of dog urinating and lots of farts from eating ice cream, however that was limited to one or two occasions of one or the other.
I felt some emotion from watching this title, which always makes my ratings higher when I feel lifted by some emotion. I know some of this film is silly but so wasn't American Pie silly if you had an IQ above 120. I saw a great film once called clueless, which was much better than this but simular high school halls, sports teams, parties and family residences. So think about all that with mom being daughter pop being son baby being dog and all vice versa, good laugh for 90 minutes.
Spiderhead (2022)
Something Different
Good Movie really, I won't do any spoilers, just give it a go as I did, I was not disappointed with the ending, I did expect more scenarios to be played out, however, imagine the Movie; Limitless, that's along the lines of the way the elements of the plot play out.
We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011)
Definite Must watch.
If you are intrigued by sociopathic tendencies I recommend giving this a watch, and I hasten to add watch all the way through.
Joker plays this idea with a big budget and back story but given this movies relatively low budget, it kept me immersed, ultimately in anticipating some sort of explanation for the disorder of kevin but no, sociopaths are unexplained entities and unique in ability to manipulate for their own ends.
Quantum Leap (1989)
Heart warming
I loved this series back in the 90s and am just watching the original 2 episodes through sky/now tv, I don't remember where in the entire series I first watched it but this is a timeless time travel masterpiece and whenever Sam was doing good I could feel the tears that I was sniffing back. It's supposed to be light hearted entertainment but it has that feel good factor throughout and has an endorphin rush when the mission is accomplished. My mum was watching it one day in the 1990s and I melted into it and we would see it regularly.
Then it eventually came to an end as do all good things.
Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021)
Uplifting
I read two reviews on here first and decided to take the plunge, first 20 minutes I wasn't sure about keeping watching but I saw it through to the end and was very entertained, these two ladies remind me of two ladies who sound exactly the same and I enjoy them for the fun they bring to the party.
The Last Days of American Crime (2020)
Pretty Awful
With 1:07:40 left on the clock I'm dreading that next hour, its not been totally unwatchable but makes no sense like the trailer suggested, it's like Tarantino screwed up a script and through it in the gutter and Olivier Megaton found it and made a movie. I will resume but I wish I was watching the series that I had been watching called Salvation.
Grand Isle (2019)
Nice to see cage wearing the usual garb
Light entertainment to full a 90 minute gap, not cages best casting but nice to see him doing his southern accent again, can't say it wasn't enjoyable but can say it would've been better dragged out as a limited series.
Ma (2019)
This sort of stuff really happens to people
I really connected with this movie, not everyone is allowed to fit in at school and Su Ann obviously didn't, I know how it feels to be the quiet one and I know some kids developed faster in their minds so would use it as a bully tactic to gain more self esteem and popularity. In adulthood I've broken through the peer barrier by being a nice person and understanding both upper and lower peers but unfortunately Su Ann never broke out of the way she was abused as a kid by her peers so acted revenge on her peers kids and the one boy she liked. I always vowed vengeance on my aggressors but now I see they're and always were the weaklings.
Derek (2012)
Loved It and still catching up.
It makes me cry and giggle, it's very true to life and reminds me of all the quirky people I have met who are either less fortunate or Very lucky in life.
Casino (1995)
Not to be missed mob movie
This was one of the first Movies I can recall watching that gives a little insight into how the Mafia make a living out of legitimate Business. along with titles such as Donnie Brasco, Goodfellas and the Godfather, which I enjoyed each immensely, Casino doesn't only show the dark side of organized crime but the ups and downs of their personal lives too.
I watched Casino for the first time with my crew at the Cinema, we loved the outfits that De niro wears and his head for perfection as Casino Manager it really made us chuckle, one of the funniest bits was the bit about everyone being watched by someone: The dealer watches the player, the box man watches the dealer, the pit boss watches the box men, the floor manager watches the pit bosses, the casino manager watches the floor manager, I am watching the casino manager. and in the roof are about a dozen cheats watching everything because they know every trick in the book, and the eye in the sky is watching us all. This would make you think there is more chance in play in a Casino than skill or good luck.
