Killjoy 2: Deliverance from Evil (2002)
I am a Clown
I am a clown... I am a sucker for Clown flicks. Okay, first of all, much better than the first one. However, this was not your regular Full Moon affair. I'm watching it thinking, low budget, but not a FM flick. The first half of the movie is like a regular movie, I'm digging it, then of course enters KJ and I'm right in the middle of a Full Moon film. Kinda like when Dusk till Dawn did it's about face. Clearly the director, a chick mind you, and she must be a cool one at that to take on this kinda movie, delivered what her FM bosses musta asked for. I dug it, but I wanna see her in action with a real script, a real budget, and for goddsake with some real actors. I mean c'mon, what can you expect for $5 and a script about phsycho-killer clowns. -T
Coffee and Cigarettes (2003)
Jim Jarmusch at the Arclight on April 19th, 2004.
Tonight Jim Jarmusch provided commentary after the screening of Coffee and Cigarettes. In the audience was Eddie Izzard and Wim Wenders. Steve Coogan also took a few questions from the audience.
This film had its original start as short film for Saturday Night Live. The film evolved into a series of eleven Coffee and Cigarette dialogues. Jarmusch described the process of familiar themes matched with different combinations of characters like playing a chess game. Lot of checkered patterns in this film. The actors all had a shot in helping develop the characters. Tom Waits improvised his discussion of music and medicine. Tesla is a reoccurring theme because both Jack White and Jarmusch share a fascination with Nikola Tesla's discovery of terrestrial stationary waves.
