Being a huge fan of ''Le Déclin de l'Empire Américain'' and of ''Les Invasions Barbares'' I was anticipating this film to be pretty awesome until I read reviews that were saying that even though the images are absolutely stunning, the movie was empty. Well I definitely agree about the images, but the film wasn't empty at all. It was a realistic look at the life of a beautiful, successful young adult. The characters are ''modern'' if I can use such a term. They admit to cheat on their partner without any guilt like it was normal and I feel a little social criticism on Arcand's part. It's like the film Nashville, there's not really a story, but some observations by the director. I don't compare this movie with Nashville, but I think you get the point. It's a beautifully shot realistic view into a young successful architect life

My English is not perfect so sorry if there is some mistakes
I saw this movie before i saw the departed and when i saw the departed after i was thinking. I already saw this movie before and then i remembered this movie who is in my opinion a lot better than the departed .
The characters are way darker and i prefer the way it was directed too !
The acting in this movie is phenomenal i even got a little cry falling of my eyes at the end of the movie the end of this movie if way better than the end of the departed it showed a lot of the Japanese movie values. Like respect prides and Honor in a really unic Japanese way.

I want to say that i am not perfectly bilingual so there might be a lot of spelling and grammatical issues This is a masterpiece.
First of all the acting is incredible Dustin Hoffman plays Ben so well. We feel the emotions of his character he is not sure about is future and he search for himself. Mrs Robinson play the perfect and original milf ( i think ). When he met Elaine the story take place and as the film goes we see that Elaine and Ben have to make a choice between their love and their family. The end of the film is the best i have ever seen Ben who scream ELAINE ELAINE ELAINE and when they go on the bus with the sound of silence of Simon and Garfunkel. It is the most amazing thing i saw in cinema the whole movie take place for me they were happy when they climb and has the song goes their smile faded and my interpretation of it is that they think of the choice they made between love and family and they don't regret it but they are sad to have been obligated to make this decision Thanks and an other time

Game changer but boring

first i want to say that i am not perfectly bilingual so my typing is horrible i hope you will be able to read my review even with this issue
1) At the time this film was release nobody has ever done anything like it. It is the father of the whole science fiction scene with is incredible images and the way Kubrick made to create these.
2) That being said this is the most boring movie i have seen in my life the characters have no personality at all and the story is bland. I have not calculate it but i surely think that more than half of the movie is some image without any sound. Maybe that it's me that doesn't understand it but i don't get the purpose of it after 1 or 2 time we see the wonderful images if half of the movie is made of it this will certainly be boring
To conclude a cinema classic but deadly boring and an other time sorry for the poor English i wish i can at least be understand pleasure Max
