Consumed: The Real Restaurant Business (2015)
Boring TV
I just don't see the point. This is one of the most boring programs currently running. So far, it's mostly talking heads going on and on about made-up problems with no food preparation to speak of, no drama other than the previously mentioned made-up problems and as far as I can determine, no reason to watch. It isn't possible to write a "spoiler" about a show with so little actual content. I realize reality shows are cheap and easy to produce, but sitting a camera in a restaurant and apparently asking people to go on and on about whatever enters their heads is not watchable. I happened on this one by accident, and believe me, it isn't going to happen again. Frankly, if I didn't get certain channels by default because I have cable TV packages, I wouldn't watch at all.
Digging for Britain (2010)
A lot of filler
I think each episode could be half as long. There is more filler just using up time than I think I have ever seen before in a BBC documentary style production. Many of the images used as filler are just silly - waves rolling on a beach when we're told someone roved the seas, or a dog running about when we're told he was an explorer. I sort of expect any production associated with the BBC to be much better in terms of style and content. The host does have that distinctive British TV presenter accent and cadence down just right, though, if she does talk rather slowly. I don't think it's worth setting the PVR. I watched two episodes to give it a try, but there's not enough there.
Paranormal Witness (2011)
Awful
I didn't know whether my review would contain what is considered "spoilers", so I said it does just in case some people think that revealing that there is nothing there is a spoiler. In a nutshell, there is nothing there - no recordings, no independent investigations, nothing but talking heads and special effects that purport to show what the witless "witnesses" claim they experienced. I thought Sasquatch Hunters was the worst show on television, but this is a contender. People talk (and talk and talk) about their so-called paranormal experiences and we're supposed to just take them at their word? I have an idea - test their claims, give them a polygraph, anything to verify that at least they believe these unlikely stories. I certainly don't.
Don't Quit Your Gay Job (2009)
Bad TV
I'm not a fan of "reality" TV in general, but this is just plain boring. These two are uninteresting people doing uninteresting things. Perhaps a change of cast might help, but I doubt it. What is needed is a change of concept. This show is obviously made on a low budget, and I guess there's no script, because the two characters (or whatever they are) have nothing interesting to say. I honestly don't get the point - is it comedy? I know this may sound harsh, but whenever these guys show any skin I want them to put their clothes back on. When they speak, I want them to keep quiet, and when they do anything, I want them to stop.
Finding Bigfoot (2011)
Bad
I have seen some bad so-called reality shows - I especially remember that woman in Egypt trying to pretend she had found Neftiti's remains when the remains she found were actually those of a man - but these guys have no evidence whatsoever and they try to make something out of nothing. How can you make a Sasquatch call when no-one knows what they sound like??? "My tent was hit with a rock in the night" becomes a Sasquatch attack? This isn't even good enough to be called pseudo science, because there is no science involved. One thing in their favour, at least as far as the broadcaster is concerned, is that it must have been very cheap to make. They certainly didn't have to pay for any expert opinions.
