Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Simple, great movie
I expected this movie to be similar to the first: great visuals with a simple story. The story is admittedly fairly simple, and it's definitely similar to the first movie's, but it still manages to never be boring or disappointing. It's a wholesome, compelling, emotional story with great action that is very satisfying. And obviously the amazing visuals are just as good in this one if not better. I legitimately have no criticisms of this movie. There's nothing phenomenally new here, but there's nothing bad about it either. This is easily one of the best movies made in the last decade, especially from Disney, and and this will surely be a classic for decades to come.
Mind Your Manners: Bringing Sexy Back (2022)
Promoting Lies, Not Manners
The whole lesson comprised teaching this stay-at-home that sushi and rice are the best foods on earth, how to do archery, and lying about Chinese traditional medicine. They literally had a guy take her pulse and say it showed liver, lung, and heart problems which he had to solve by putting needles in her ear. It's such obvious BS no one who gave an ounce of logical thought to it would believe, so I figured they would be teaching her how to mannerly react to uncomfortable lies, but they actually got her to believe them. There was no manner lesson the whole episode. It was just, like, weird Chinese propaganda or something. This episode has nothing to do with the claimed topic and does nothing but make the world dumber and overall worse.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: A Normal Amount of Rage (2022)
Average but worrying
This episode was okay. There were bad parts, and there were good parts. There's certainly nothing groundbreaking. The writing feels very bland and like a very by-the-numbers episode with jokes and emotions inserted where they statistically should be, but they forgot to actually write anything funny or emotional. The best part of the episode by far was Mark Ruffalo, whom I actually liked, which is fine for this episode but quite concerning for the rest of the season which presumably won't have him. Jen definitely came off as grating, and I was wanting less of her, so, uh, we'll see how this show goes.
Once Upon a Time: The Bear King (2015)
Bad episode
Possibly the worst episode so far. Mulan and Merida's mother just have very unnatural, stiff acting. The writing was also very awkward and not very good. Then to top it off there's the ridiculous stupidity of Merida and Fergus's hair.
Hop (2011)
Mean Bunny
Just feltlike the bunny was being mean to the human the whole movie. I guess it was supposed to be funny, but it just felt sad and upsetting. The whole movie just kinda fell flat.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life: Summer (2016)
Better than average
This is the first episode of A Year in the Life that's actually pretty good. There are still some off moments (The thirtysomethings, the ending, etc.), and the musical was just horrible. (You can make something amusingly bad without actually torturing your audience in real-life.) But the rest of the episode could actually pass for Gilmore Girls. There are actually several funny moments in this episode, and people largely act like themselves instead of like alien corpses reanimated by Netflix designed to torture audiences. Some people actually use their brains in this episode (the ending not included). It was good to see and while still very flawed, it was way better than the first two episodes.
