The Dark Knight (2008)

Easily Ledger's greatest performance.

OK, so I haven't written a review in a long time, and upon seeing this film I thought it was high time I did.

Everything about this film surpassed my expectations. I have to admit that I only really went to see it because I was already a fan of Heath Ledger and Michael Caine. I had previously seen Batman Begins and really didn't think it was all that amazing. But after seeing the trailers for the film I decided to give it a go, seeing as it was also Ledgers last finished role.

The special effects were fantastic and I think the makeup in this film was easily some of the best I have ever seen. The plot kept me entertained until the very end and it was both thought provoking and humorous at times.

Some of the performances may be overshadowed by Ledgers last and iconic role, but I could not fault any of them. Christian Bale did a magnificent job as the lead character, and all supporting actors did brilliantly.

However in my personal opinion, the portrayal of the joker was what made the film. I think everything about it was spot on and he stole every scene quite comfortably from his fellow actors. I think the mix of humour helped the film enormously, the make-up was great, the costume and even down to the quirky habits of the character, which have made it such a memorable performance. Easily one of the most iconic and hopefully remembered rolls of all time.

A great last performance from the late, great Heath Ledger. He will be missed, but his films will live on forever. May he rest in peace.

National Treasure (2004)

All round enjoyable film!

I went to see this film at the cinema what it first came out...and was really happy with what i saw.

Good, believable characters. Nicolas Cage brilliantly plays Ben Gates, who believes that the treasure his for fathers have been searching for is real, and is on a quest to find it once and for all. His best friend, Riley Poole plays the role of the goofy sidekick in helping with the search. Sean Bean plays Ian Howe, someone who is also after this treasure, and will stop at NOTHING to find it.

Gripping storyline. Its up to Ben and Riley to uncover the clues and secrets to try and find the treasure Ben's ancestors have been searching for. With a little help from a couple more characters, they believe that they are finally on the last stretch to find the treasure. Unfortunately, Ian is also looking for the treasure, and wont let anyone get in his way.

Good, enjoyable film for the whole family, a must see for any adventure/treasure finding film fan.

Jackass: The Movie (2002)

How can anyone say that they HATED this film?

I think that Jackass is amazing, lets face it there cant be someone in this world that wouldn't smile on at least ONE stunt they do! Jackass basically represents the little kid in all of us, the stunts may be horrible sometimes, but a film that makes you cringe but at the same time, keeps you watching, is a good film in my eyes. No script, no plot, but 1 and a half hours of pure jackass that keeps fans laughing from start to the finish.

Jackass may not be to everyones taste, we all have our differences. But if you think that Jackass the movie is disgusting and dangerous, why go and see it? Everyone knows what jackass is about, a bunch of guys doing dangerous and funny things to amuse others. So if you hated the movie, you must have hated the series..and if you hated the series...why go SEE the movie? People who think there "far above this sort of behaviour" are just too afraid to let anyone know that they find part of it funny.

So if you have a really weak stomach, and think your above people who are just out to have a laugh then this film might not be for you, but if your up for letting a bunch of guys pull crazy pranks and entertain you for 90 mins, while at the same time having a VERY different experience than any other film you've seen before, watch it.

And lets face it, even if you don't like a lot of the stunts, the girls can always go and look at a bunch of good looking guys with almost no clothes on half the time! :P

Tomb Raider: Legend (2006 Video Game)

not a bad game..but so different from the previous ones

I am a big Tomb Raider fan...and when i found out that the latest game was coming out, i was excited about it. I'm 16 years old and round about when the 1st ones came out, i sat at the side and controlled the guns while my dad played the game, as i got older we started to take it in turns to play.

But its sad to say that Tomb Raider Legend has lost a lot of the qualities, it was the little things that made tomb raider what it is and different from the rest. Such as the little "Ahhh" noises Lara made when she had a medipack. the way she made a struggling noise as she pulled herself up on any box or cliff. Tomb Raider Legend has none of these things, and i think its a real let down.

The controls for Lara have also changed, and just the general way she moves. Backflips can only be done with the guns out..and you cant just press space bar and let her run around with her guns out and ready. The turning has changed, when you pressed right...she used to swivel right..and now she moves right. its just different.

Any one remember the good old days with the longer story lines, more free to roam around, the levers, the tigers and even in one tomb raider, the dinosaurs? Saying all that...there were a few things that i really liked in the game aswel, such as the grapple, the general graphics of the game (although i preferred it when the cut scenes were more like proper movies and you couldn't see that it was a game). Laras mansion was good, the indoor gym was excellent and generally fun to roam around. But i would have liked to be able to go out on the assault course like in some of the previous tomb raider games. The story was generally good and entertaining..and the characters were believable.

All in all i hope the next Tomb Raider game keeps to the standards and traditions to the earlier tomb raider games.

Scrubs (2001–2010)

Fantastic!

Scrubs is in no doubt, one of the best comedy series of its time. Mixing humour, drama and a whole bunch of lifes lessons.

J.D. begins his career at Sacred Heart Hospital, accompanied by his best friend Turk, whom he went to med school with. Not too long into the 1st episode J.D. bumps into the Janitor of the hospital, J.D. tries to help the janitor by saying that there may be a penny stuck in the door which hes trying to fix, this then starts their long journey into giving each other hell thought the time they know each other. The show is set in a hospital in which the staff there have a very different way of working as any hospital you or i have ever been to.

The way we move into seeing what J.D. is thinking and how he sees most events is genius and often rather amusing.

Dr. Cox is absolutely amazing with the long speeches he gives to anyone who comes within his quarters.

One of the best shows I've seen! i cant wait for new episodes.

Without a Paddle (2004)

loved it!! ***may contain spoilers***

i loved this film. its a comedy adventure.....whats not to like Seth green plays the nerdy doctor (who is afraid of cling film) Matthew Lillard plays the fun guy who tries to commit to his relationship but has no luck. Dax Shepard plays the cool, afraid of nothing, ladies man guy who wants an adventure and as many girlfriends as possible. They do a terrific job as a trio and i would like to see them in another film together. This film will keep you going until the end.....its one joke after another. the only criticism i have is that i didn't like the bad guys very much (they didn't have much character to them) other than that i loved it and i would recommend it!

Shrek 2 (2004)

Great film BETTER THAN THE FIRST

i think this is a great follow up of shrek, the plot is not that deep but its great none the less. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz all do yet another great performance as shrek, donkey and Fiona. Now their joined by Antonio Bandaraos, John Cleese, Jennifer Saunders and Julie Andrews to makes the film even better than the first.

Puss in boots is a great character to add, hes funny, tough and sweet at the same time. John Cleese and Julie andrews are the best choices for the king and queen and choosing jennifer for the godmother was genius.

The graphics are, believe it or not, better than the first. From when they first arrive at Far Far Away to when shrek runs his hand down the door and gently knocks the door handle in fionas bedroom after closing the door (WATCH OUT FOR IT!!! GREAT DETAIL!!!) The songs are great and i cant wait for Shrek 3 to come out.

some people seem to complain about the fact that shrek takes a lot of things from other films, but thats the beauty of it, it wouldn't be as funny without them, and everyone can agree to that. Shrek became famous by taking things out of other films and nursery rhymes to make it what it is so don't knock it down for it. :)

Friends (1994–2004)

This is positively the best series in the world! i cant believe they stopped making these! they will never be able to make a show 1/2 as good, and no characters could replace them.

Rachel: played wonderfully by Jennifer aniston, is a cool pretty girl who loves to live life to its fullest and have fun, she could easily be in a relationship all the way through, most of the time she is either working in the cafe or in fashion. all the guys love her and she is a very friendly girl.

Monica: played by Courtney cox, is a control freak and has to have everything right. but she is a friendly girl and she has always wanted a family. When she was young, she was fat and never liked, and now she has lost all the weight she wants to have a boyfriend and live life the way Rachel used to.

Phobe: not the brightest of the gang but definitely the funniest, she used to live on the street and those years have taught her well and she will never forget them, she spends a lot of the time on stage in central perk singing with her guitar. she is loved by everyone and always happy.

Ross: brother of Monica and definitely the smartest, but don't let that fool you, he can be pretty stupid at times. Working in the museum but all the time wanting to tell people how he gave up a career in basketball. He has always had a crush on Rachel and is on and off with her the whole way through. but all in all a very funny guy.

Joey: The ladies man pf the group and loves all supermodels and pretty girls, he is never in a proper relationship, so when he sees a girl he likes, he just goes over to them to ask them out, he is a bit simple minded but thats what makes him the funniest. He has always wanted to be an actor and has an agent to help him.

Chandler: The joker, although his jokes aren't always funny, he definitely makes me laugh. He is always on and off with Janice and, for some reason, people think he is gay. HE IS NOT! he is funny and kind. He sometim,es does stupid things by accident but always trys to apologies in the end, he lives with joey for a lot of the series and they have a riot. But everything has to come to and end and he moves in with Monica when they star going out.

All in all this is a great show and it would not be what it is without any of the characters.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)

first of all i would like to say that anyone who didn't like it will not be a proper fan of tomb raider, when i first saw it advertised i was disappointed that it wasn't made in the same way (like an animation, like the cut scenes in the game) but it was very good!

Angelina Jolie is a very good lara croft and did a pretty good English accent. She tried her best to do all her own stunts and i think it was a reflection in her acting.

I loved the sun and the planet room, i thought it was a great set, and i thought her house was FANTASTIC!

all in all it was a great film with action and jokes all the way.

I, Robot (2004)

GR8 MOVIE!

I think that i robot is will smiths best film!! it is entertaining and has all types of genres to it, such as action, sci-fi, thriller and a bit of comedy!

It is a great film for all ages and has something for everyone.

The story has a great plot and twists all the way through

The effects are AMAZING!!! and that is the only word to describe them! everything looks as real as it can be and that really brings the film up in standards a lot!!!!!!

all in all this is a great film and has you thinking from the word go, will smith plays an excellent part in it and the robots are FA-BU-LAS!!

X-Men (2000)

Absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

I LOVE THIS FILM!!!! X-Men is a great film, if you haven't seen it yet YOU HAVE TO!! it is VERY entertaining and will keep you watching until the end. i didn't see this film as soon as it came out, i only saw it recently and i loved it!! Hugh Jackman is an excellent choice for wolverine and plays him very well. Its up to him, storm (halle berry), cyclops, jeane and dr. x to stop magneto, toad, mystique and sabertooth from turning all the humans on the planet into mutants with the most recent and youngest addition to the x-men. i wont tell you what they can do....you can find out for yourself!!

The special effects are great, especially since its a few years old. the plot is really good and if you like this one..you will like the next.....

Bruce Almighty (2003)

A great film!!

Bruce almighty is a VERY funny film.

Take the star of liar liar, and give him super powers, and what do you get? BRUCE ALMIGHTY!

Jennifer Aniston (friends) stars as Grace, bruces girlfriend and also does an excellent job!

Another one of Jim Carrey's outstanding films. Only Jim could play the part of Bruce nolan. He makes it sooo funny and entertaining.

i haven't met a person who doesn't like this film, its the type of film that makes everybody smile :)

i would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a laugh. of who likes Jim Carrey.

Van Helsing (2004)

I enjoyed this film

i really enjoyed this film, it was better than i expected after reading some of the reviews on this website.

i liked hugh jackman from swordfish and i enjoyed that a lot, so i was quite confident in this film.

it was fun to watch and it made everybody jump in some places, i was sitting near in the middle row of my cinema and could see a few people and they all jumped at the jumpy parts, laugh at the funny parts and get sad at the sad parts.

it reminded my a bit of the league of extraordinary gentleman but i found it so much better, i am a big fan of actions, comedies, fantasies and thrillers, this has at least a little bit of all of them, but if you only like comedies then i wouldn't recommend it.

All in all this this has been one of the best films I've ever seen.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)

A VERY GOOD FILM!!!!!

Pirates of the caribbean is not only an action, but funny and a bit of horror too, EVERYONE who i have asked if they like it have said yes, its a film that almost everybody likes, no matter what age or genre they like.

It stars Johnny Depp is the fearless pirate Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bloom is the young Blacksmith and Keria Knightly is the governors daughter. This is one of Johnny Depps best films, and he really makes the film what it is!!

The graphics were above average and the story line is not boring what so ever, everyone is entertained.

I have to say i cant wait for the next one to come out.
