The Bachelor (2002)
The worst people on the face of the planet
I'm not sure there has ever been a show that showed an uglier side of humanity and if you actually enjoy this piece of trash you should probably ask yourself what that says about you.
Baywatch (2017)
Goofy but fun
The wife and I had a good time watching it. I wouldn't call it a great movie but I really wasn't expecting much and it was goofy humorous. I assume that was all they intended.
That said, the last comedy I watched was "Snatched" with Amy Schumer so maybe my standards are pretty low right now.
If you have some free time and want to see something, I'd absolutely recommend Baywatch. I'm thinking if you are turning it on though, you have a pretty good idea what you are getting into.
Snatched (2017)
Really this was only an hour and a half?
To be honest I don't like Schumer's politics but I've enjoyed her stand up even if it is mostly the same 12 jokes recycled every time.
Given the former, I didn't expect a whole lot from this and I was still disappointed. Really it is one of the worst comedies I've EVER seen and I'm not just just hating on Schumer. The writing terrible to a point I couldn't believe someone read the script and thought it was okay to proceed. I enjoy Wanda's comedy and the writing for her was even worse than for Amy. I thought folks rating it so bad were probably just hating on Amy and I'm sure plenty do dislike her but regardless it deserves every 1 star rating it has gathered.
Seriously, just watch the trailer and skip the movie. Everything even remotely funny is in the trailers the rest of this piece is bad to a legendary cinematic level.
47 Meters Down (2017)
Well, it has water...
This movie is utter crap. Outside of their being water, nothing about the movie is accurate and most of it is completely ridiculous.
Just start off knowing that compressed air from 3000 psi tanks at 47 meters will be empty in under 20 minutes with a very experienced and calm diver. An excited diver will have less than 10 minutes. The movie gets worse from there.
SCUBA Magazine actually did a brilliant article on monumentally inaccurate this movie. It is full of spoilers so if you intend to see it, don't read the article but, don't see it unless you and your friends want to make your own episode of MST3K
Liquid Sky (1982)
If you have the time and want something to think about, try it!
I watched this movie on a recommendation of a game I was playing as an example of the setting. I watched it another 3 times because I couldn't figure out why they wanted me to watch it. Frankly, I hated it.
However, over the years I've pondered this dark comedy as much as any film I've seen including "A Clockwork Orange", "Brazil" and many other acclaimed dark comedies. I've found myself quoting it and even discussing it with friends.
Based on that, I'm going to give it a 7 as I think it is due more credit than I originally gave it and I think it is worth an adventure if you have the time. It speaks a lot about society and there is a lot more to it than face value. I don't love it but I do think it was valuable time spent unlike the 3 episodes of "2 Broke Girls" that I was subjected to.
Iron Fist (2017)
Somewhat less than a fist of iron
I can forgive a lot of the other mistakes but Iron Fist is supposed to be one of best martial artists in the Marvel Universe (he is Thee Iron Fist) for an actual human anyway. Whipping a lone thug or even a small number of thugs should be like breathing in air for him.
I suspect they wanted to separate his fighting style and Dare Devil's hence the wire play (which is very poorly done on top of it) but the writers don't get their own character. They totally botched writing a story around a guy that is that level of skill. He should be walking through random thugs like Capt. America through foot soldiers. The real fights should be against boss level characters. They know he's not DD but then they write the confrontations like he is.
