47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019)
Sharknado: Uncaged
The moment they went to diving marked the time when all the seriousness of the movie faded away for me.
They can talk like they are not UNDERwater?
The underwater music scene? Was it for real?
Genuine 3 year old intelligence.
What is up with the last 5 minutes LOL.
I watched it as if it is a Sharknado movie.
Laughed a lot.
Because they intended it to be a dramatic action movie I give it 1 star. If it was a comedy film I would have given a solid 5.
The Boys: The Instant White-Hot Wild (2022)
I love the series and gave a 10 yet I hate this finale it is a solid 1 for me
When this season started I was so thrilled I couldn't wait for the Fridays.
After Soldier Boy was introduced and the epic herogasm fight took place I was so satisfied seeing Homelander scared!
When it turned out to be Soldier Boy is father of the Homelander I said wow what a twist!
In the finale I was expecting either Soldier Boy turning against The Boys or loosing the battle against Homelander with Ryan joining his father or something else I don't know really. But something that would have made sense you know.
However, building up this moment whole season. Making us second guess about Soldier Boy whether he is going to keep his promise or not. Yet here we are everyone turning against Soldier Boy protecting Homelander and all of a sudden Maeve starts fighting Homelander, Boys fighting with Soldier Boy even though he was ready to kill Homelander!
What a let down this final battle was.
I can't believe that they evolved the season around Soldier Boy. Boys freed him up, he hanged around killing bunch of old heroes and at last Boys once again put him back to sleep. What a stupid story development this was. This whole season was set up upon the Soldier Boy and he literally accomplished nothing!
Maeve surviving that blast also is a shocker yet Soldier Boy falls down unconscious?
The only thing that was somewhat exciting for the further episodes was the ending when Homelander introduced his son Ryan and popped a civilian's head. This gave me some ideas about whats coming next.
How sad that after the season 1 and season 2 finales this time around I have almost no excitement/anticipation towards the next season.
Once I hear the season 4 is out there, I will wait for the all episodes to get posted on Prime Video after that I can even forget for a further 1-2 months more before I start watching the next season. That's how dry and uninteresting this finale was for me.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Yikes!
The movie's story feels like a bed time talk between 2 year olds Jon and Bob before they go to sleep. Let me tell you how this movie shaped in the last couple years of its production.
1st Night of the script writing of Jon and Bob 2 year olds:
Jon and Bob drink their warm milk and eat their cookies. Right before they sleep they start mind-storming. At the same time Director Colin Tremorrow is taking notes for his next blockbuster movie called Jurassic World DoMinions.
Jon calls to Bob "Bob look look. There is a huge Ice Pool it is really cold." The other kid "Yeah but it is tropical below that right?!" Jon: "Yeah, yeah and a huge plane crashes and it won't sink. Oh but the people on it can sink its like 1 inch thick they can drown." The other kid again "But yeah and there is a big dinosaur like a huge chicken but it can swim beneath the ice pond like a dolphin!"
Colin smiles and he is happy. He chuckles and leaves the room.
2nd Night of the script writing of Jon and Bob 2 year olds (Colin as always taking notes):
Jon: "An evil man lives in a building shaped like Apple's space craft building. Oh yeah and the evil man's name is Tim CooKie. He is greedy, he loves money!" Bob:"Yeah yeah and all dinosaurs are living happy in the forest around Tim CooKie's building. But if there is anything booboo happens All dinosaurs will walk inside and eat each other!" Jon: "Bugs let's have bugs they are hugeee!" Bob: "Lets put em on fire! They are stored in a basement but when they are burned they can fly outside because there is a wide ventilation tube right above them!" Jon: "Burn the forest burn the forest!"
Colin is amazed! He can't stop giggling and imagining how he will be winning the Oscar so easy in 2023.
3rd Night:
Jon:"Horses!" Bob: "Dinos" Jon: "Tom cruise riding bike! Bourne music yeah right!" Jon: "A huge dinosaur but its bigger than T-Rex" Bob "Let's fight them! And big Ostrich like Wolverine. Yeah they team up! Yeah fight the bigger dino!" Jon: "Lets have Raptors!" Bob: "Wait wait also there is a woman she can reproduce with mitosis she like Mother Marry!" Jon "Yeaah yeaahh she gives birth to she Jesus Christ. She so important. She is also clone but also mitosis. She can reproduce with mitosis too." Bob: "Yeah yeah and she is perfect in every way. So important. So important!" "There is also another Mother Marry Raptor! Jesus Blue Christ so important' Sooo important!" "All the other dinos can reproduce since 1993 Jurassic Aprk with mitosis but nooo Blue the Christ is so impvtanttt!"
"Chines man. So Geniusss. He is evil but he is kind!"
"Yeah yeah so impovtanttt"
"Tree houses in the forest. Tim CooKie being bad!"
"Dark tunnels! Dinos everywhere!"
"There were like 20-30 dinos top. In the Jurassic World 2 escaping. But now in 1 year there are billions of them!! Yet they are so rare they are being hunted! Yeaah so impovtantttt!"
Colin TreMorrow is so hyped so thrilled he is having his best days of his life. He definitely will get the Oscar! He imagines its big yellow man shaped statue every night after taking notes and he prepares for this great night!
Yakamoz S-245 (2022)
Good Enough
I think this is the best Turkish Series/Movie with decent CGI, cinematography, colors and score.
Saban's acting is brilliant and it is the best among all of them and the other actors are average in my opinion.
On the other hand, unfortunately the script is below average and it is a let down for sure. Writing is what is lacking with this series. To illustrate, even with the solid acting from Saban he feels cringy from time to time albeit there is nothing he could do. It is just the bad script.
I did not watch Into The Night so it might be the reason why I thought this series is interesting and made me curious how everything will be shaped in the end.
Frankly, I believe the first 4 episodes are not good. However, last 3 are really well made and made me binge to watch.
If we look at the series from a technical aspect though, I think it could have been much much much better. Scientists are not related to any science. Naval army I am pretty sure is not this loose. Submarines are probably not operated as they suggest in the series and many more weak points are here and there. I hope they hire an advisor for the next season. But, thinking about many space related movies like Star Wars I can not blame them too hard. There is no air for example in vacuum but we can hear lasers blasting, spaceships whooshing and so on :)
I am a native Turkish speaker and I can speak English, German very well with a decent accent. I watched the series in Turkish, dubbed and sometimes gave the subtitles a try in order to see how they are managed. I must admit that it is very very poor. On the other side, during the series actors' accents are weak and unnatural too.
For this series I believe the more they can fix the technical errors and get closer to submarine/naval army reality the better it will become. Also a better script writing is crucial. I would like to see the next season.
Dune (2021)
You would love it if you have insomnia
For the first time in my life I almost slept in the theatre.
Science fiction is my jam. Yet, Dune was like a BBC desert documentary narrated by a guy with British accent. However, those documentaries have more action. A snake would go after a rat or a scorpion doing something. You know something that keeps your attention?
Dune on the other hand was like some guy touching water, Zendaya trailer scene, sand, bug shaped helicopter, desert, huge worms more sand, Zendaya trailer scene again, some lame dude with Tom Holland's Chaos Walking skills, Zendaya trailer scene again seriously?!, more sand, Arabs, bug shaped helicopters, sand, spitting, fighting with swords right below intergalactic spaceships, one more freaking time ladies and gentlemen Zendaya trailer scene, bug shaped helicopter loosing its wing, and more SAND.
Where is she? Zendaya(I keep saying Zendaya because we learned her name in the last 5 minutes or sth). She is like find Waldo.
CGI splendid. Sound effects perfect! Rest? Nope.
I gave Blade Runner 2049 10 out of 10 which would be considered as a slow burn movie.
Paul should've founded Zendaya in the first 30 minutes and rest of the runtime should've been the sequels. Thereby this movie would have a chance for a prequel.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Story is a let down
I am not saying previous instalments had a great writing but they were making more sense. Characters had a reason to be there.
Let me explain. If you watched Into Darkness, Carol Marcus was a new face and she was there to open military torpedos, talk to her father to stop him from killing Enterprises' crew etc. Even Pike who died right in the beginning of the movie was there to make Kirk want to seek revenge.
If you watched the first movie, Spock's mother -similar to Pike in the second movie- died to shape the story. So that Spock would be emotionally compromised and Kirk could become the captain.
Now please help me understand, Sofia Boutella (Jailah) had almost more screen time than Spock yet what was her achievement? Nothing. She just hanged there. Same goes for Idris Elba for the entire movie I couldn't understand his motive at all. Felt nothing for the main villain. Both Sofia and Idris who I love to watch were just wasted.
To recap, story was too shallow and weak. It kinda felt like watching Fast and Furious 12. Good cgi, action, family/crew blah blah etc. Zero emotion, poor writing.
Twilight (2008)
How to ruin Vampires
Edward in forest turns to Bella and asks, "Bella do you know why vampires can't get a contact with sunlight? Because we are essentially disco balls."
Justice League (2017)
It is so easy rating it low after watching Zack's
This movie is an imposter because it is trying to be Avengers. It betrays its audience.
The reason why I like DC more because it is dark and villains have motives, depth. Not everything is a joke. Superheroes are vulnerable too.
Of course Zack's version has a way longer runtime for explaining storyline. However, Joss Whedon and Warner Brothers choosing cringe scenes over character developments clearly shows you they intend to turn Justice League into an Avenger like franchise.
To be fair Joss has an excellent background and his vision works with Marvel but not here. 3 stars.
Wrath of Man (2021)
Entertaining BUT
I can't feel for Jason if I know that he can fire a gun and with one bullet kill a guy in the head 20 meters away and after that guy, bullet continues its way to killing an army of soldiers and than kill Godzilla than put a whole in a nearby spaceship and come back to Jason's beloved gun to get ready for killing half of the universe to bring balance to it.
I like action movies but it is lately becoming more and more impossible for me to root for the main character. Look I get it with Jason's loss we are meant feel for him. Think like yeah he can be hurt too. But yeah nah. Main protagonist is still perfect. He is good at martial arts, fire arms, mathematics, quantum physics, having sex, charming any women so on and on and on.
Overall, it was entertaining. Visuals were excellent. Fight scenes were great. But at the end I had zero emotion. I knew the ending since the beginning.
Iron Fist (2017)
What a shocker
It is almost impossible to watch this series after seeing Daredevil. Only reason why I forced myself into watching it was because Danny is teaming up with Daredevil in Defenders.
Unfortunately the story is too shallow, acting is bad and fight scenes are horrible.
Coleen fights better than Danny.
You nearly don't get to see the iron fist?
I am not giving it 1 star because it was somewhat entertaining in the beginning.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Excellent Visuals
Most people dream before sleeping and I am pretty sure most of them could come up with a better story in 20 minutes just before they fall asleep.
It is an absolute challenge to feel for the characters. It is even a greater adversity to convince yourself what they are experiencing is somewhat possible.
If logic or deep emotional connection with the characters were what I was after this movie would only get 2-3 stars from me however, luckily that is not what I am after.
Visuals are stunning. Fight scenes are epic. I mean you can pause the movie and count Kong's hairs. Don't get me wrong that would have been great if the storyline was at least on par with the previous Godzilla movie but it is not even close.
The reason for my high rating is solely for the visuals and entertaining minutes with excellent sound effects that offers a break after horrid 2020.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
A Fantastic Alien Universe Installment
If you are familiar with Ridley Scott's Alien Universe I believe you would love this series because it brings light to many of your questions. It aims to(more seasons to come) explain the timeline, origin of engineers(Prometheus 2021), Xenomorphs, and humans.
Raised By Wolves is in my opinion one of the best installments in this universe and it is now my favorite along with Prometheus.
Similar to Prometheus the core concept here is different than other Alien movies. By different I mean it is not like one monster is chasing everyone cliché. On contrary, It has Blade Runner 2049(surprise surprise it is also part of the Alien Universe) visual vibes, and a lovely dark cinematographic atmosphere. It questions creation/genesis. There is a science vs religion conflict.
One thing that made me sad would be Travis Fimmel's character development :( (It almost felt like watching Vikings again.)
You don't have to be acquainted with the Alien Universe in order to watch this series however, I highly recommend to you to at least take a look at Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017). This series would then become much more entertaining if you know the core storyline.
