Deja Vu (2006)
7/10
Nothing about Deja Vu but 'Man on Fire in New Orleans'
14 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
It's funny that this film made me believe a couple of scenes as experiencing Deja Vu, but later I've noticed that they actually were far different to what you know as Deja Vu. In the film, Doug(Denzel Washington) faces a few moments where he feels like "I've seen this before..." that just looks like Deja Vu, but in fact those moments were his actual experiences that he'd gone through just a couple of days ago. It is not a kind of thing that you feel like you've seen but can never remember where, it is actually the thing that you have just experienced in real life. You would not call that a Deja Vu. If you could see what happened at certain places and you would time-travel back to that moment, you'll surely what you have already seen from the future. After all, it does not make any sense though. To me this film is more like 'Man on Fire II' but in New Orleans. Rather than saving a little girl, this ex-military tough but sole man goes for saving a girl that he meets via time machine. It is stylish, just like 'Man of Fire' but I'm a bit sick of hearing another time-traveling story and the love and sacrifice and all that. Another thing is that, Doug goes out in a van to chase the criminal but then he causes serious car accidents and a truck crash while chasing and don't really care. (a couple of innocent people must have died in the crashes but no need to care 'cause they are not playing any roles for this film? what a HOLY Hollywood!) Yeah, yeah, I get it, a couple of cars, explosions, 'must be in film' thing, a girl in the past must be saved but who cares about a couple of civilian's deaths. I'm giving 7 'cause Denzel Washington's done his job alright as usual.

King Kong (2005)
10/10
Whatta COOL movie!!!
5 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I've missed a chance to see this movie when it was on cinemas then I hardly found anybody who hasn't watched this movie yet.

I didn't really feel like watching this kind of movie alone.(ACTiON BLOCKBUSTERS) I've been waiting for a chance to see this movie with somebody, but finally a couple of days ago I sat alone, took a beer out of the fridge and played this movie which runs almost 3 hours.

I heard some people say the movie was a bit boring, I got no idea why the hell they would say that. I mean, seriously this movie is full of fun and thrills and dramatic moments.(and even romance of beast and the beauty!!)What could be more entertaining??? For those who complain about King Kong's absence for the first hours of the movie, I would strongly recommend to edit the fighting scenes between Kong and 3 Rex and just keep replaying that bit for 3 hours.

well made film - a movie like a drawing
15 May 2004
This movie could be a bit boring for some people, but I find this film

very interesting in terms of an attempt to reveal a tradition.

The director, Lim, has made two films about traditional music in Korea before this film. The film before this one was showing the music throughout the film, and this film is trying to achieve similar things by having backgrounds in the movie just like a painting.

Another thing is that, the story is written by both director and a philosopher, Kim who is well known scholar in Korea (holding a lot of degrees - including doctor at Havard) I'm not saying that educated people make better films but that philosopher is an expert in traditional culture in Korea, so it gives more credit on this film.

Failan (2001)
sad but true
14 May 2004
despite some unreasonable scenes from the movie(some people might think) i find this movie so sad as it is what's actually happening in real world.

Cheung sells herself for the money, residency, Choi - thug but not talented - sells himself for a fake marriage with Cheung but don't even care who she is.

The highlight of the movie is when Choi gets the letter from Cheung after she dies. He can't hold his tears inside, I found the best actor ever found in Korean movies. For those who don't know this guy, watch his new release "Oldboy" nominated for Cannes, anyone can see how talented actor he is.
