Trouble (I) (2019)
3/10
Kids may like it. Parents may cringe.

Half of the voice talent are old pros and are great, the other half sound like a high school drama club. The animation is actually pretty good, even if the story is a regurgitation of a million other dog movies.

The worst part is the squirrels. If you are curious how many times a crotch grabbing, dancing squirrel can say "Nuts" before it starts to make you uncomfortable, the answer for me was 3. But the joke just keeps coming back, over and over until you've heard them aggressively say "Nuts" so many times that you debate whether or not to just turn the movie off.

My 6 year old got bored and asked if we could watch something else instead.

A review on behalf of my 10 year old
24 July 2020
He asked me to turn the movie off about 45 minutes in. He loathed the main character, said that he was so different in the book and that the books were so much better. The movie depicted him as a selfish and vain. He has read the books and liked them, and I have not, but I will take him at his word.

Little Women (2019)
2/10
Weak, noisy, thin, chaotic, and painful.

Warning: Spoilers
I've read the book. I've cherished the 1994 film since I was 14. This was... an abomination.

The pacing was seriously awful. It flies past any sort of story building in the chaos of jumping forward and backward in time. It definitely assumes you know the story already, and zips through hoping you won't notice how terrible it is. It's like the movie was in a hurry to get away from itself.

The personalities of the characters are weak, vapid, and annoying. The relationships between the characters, thin and hollow; zero chemistry between the lot of them. The acting seriously overdone with the exception of Meryl Streep (she alone was good... and I love Laura Dern, but her Marmie sucked). Amy was overwhelmingly annoying. Beth was unlikeable. Meg selfish and bland. Jo was pretty okish (except right after the beginning when she meets Laurie at the party, she over-did it a bit in that scene). Marmie was lacking in warmth or any feeling at all really. Laurie was busy trying to channel Christian Bale and doing an okish job of it, Frederich wasn't believable. John, and everyone else, utterly forgettable. *sigh* so disappointed.

Skip this one, y'all.

55 years to plan a sequel... and its wholly disappointing.
12 July 2019
Every adventure feels forced and unnecessary, not organic and whimsical like it should. It moves too fast, yet some how also takes way too long to get to the point.

The acting is good and it is well cast. The sets and costumes are top quality, as is the mark of Disney. The music and score are high quality, but as many others have mention, completely forgettable.

I'm so sad that this was so mediocre. It's harder for those of us that are older and had the original as a part of our childhood because its impossible not to compare them. We see this differently than our kids do.

For what it's worth, my 4 and 9 year olds like it fine.

So amazing.

I watched this with my 9 year old son and 4 year old daughter and I enjoyed it as much as they did. It was brilliant. There is nothing I can say that hasnt been said by other reviewers, but I will remind you to watch to the end of the credits for the little nugget of joy that Marvel is known for having.

Unfortunately, not about the AT.

There is nothing in this film about the trail really, so if you are watching for prep or general info, don't waste your time. There is a lot of crying and cat fighting and it's just sort of painful and unenjoyable to watch. There are hints of pleasant scenery, but not enough to make it worth the time spent viewing it.

Anne with an E (2017–2019)

You either love it or hate it, it seems.
24 July 2018
I attempted to read the books and made it through to Rainbow Valley where I gave it up. The books bored me to the point where i was speeding through pages tryilying to find anything exciting to keep me interested. The life of Anne and her family and friends is sweet and even enviable, but dull and mundane and would make for a very boring series by today's television standards.

The show has dazzled me. I love the series. The creators have done a magnificent job of bringing this story forward and making it exciting and interesting. I can understand why fans of the books and purists would be upset with this modern telling, but I for one LOVE it and look forward to season 3.
