24 Hours in A&E (2011)
Very interesting look at medicine & life in the UK
I just found this series and started binge watching it. I found seasons 1-6 particularly good. The doctors, introducing themselves to the patients by first name -- definitely not a practice in the U. S. The bedside manner of all the staff was just a treat to watch, so caring & friendly. I was also quite interested in how they mixed in the loved ones talking about their the injured person and how important family was to them. Really very well done. (though why they don't get the patients more pain killers when they perform a procedure is a mystery to me.) When they moved to another hospital in seasons 7+ the staff was quite different. Not as friendly, caring, not really bantering with the patient and the staff. And I do miss the staff at King's, who you get to know well.
Unhinged (2020)
Don't bother
I love Russell Crowe but he was wasted in this movie, with a weak script, and weak supporting cast.
Bokemasukara, yoroshiku onegaishimasu. (2018)
Sad, but beautiful documentary
Filmed by the daughter of two aging parents. The mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimer and dementia and all three are coming to grips with the changes she, and as a result, also the father, are going through. Sad but honest portrayal of how difficult it is for both the mother, who feels like a burden, the father frail but taking on increasing responsibility, and the daughter who is not sure whether she should leave her profession in Tokyo to come care for them full time. Clearly a lot of love in the family, but so difficult to come to terms to how this illness impacts them all and the uncertain future.
Silent Witness (1996)
Original series is wonderful
My rating is for the original version with Amanda Burton, who was amazing in her role and was backed up by a very strong cast and strong plot lines. The more current version, doesn't hold up, After watching one episode, I never bothered watching more.
