Lakewood (2021)
Intense journey of a widowed Mother.
A woman just lost her husband in an accident and coping with the relationship with her kids. Nicely paced storyline and I considered this as Watts best performance. She took a day off to jog and to put things behind and relax. A shooting occured in one of the school when she was half way in the woods. Panic and very intense, she called every contacts to get for information whether her daughter and son was safe. She raced to get to her son's school to get the first news. Suffering from lost of her husband and caring for both kids is not an easy task. Seldom, a movie can portray the stress and difficulties single parent faced.
Regards the negative reviews and watch it for yourself.
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
A very focus look at the last days of Jesus.
A very well made and directed movie about Jesus's last days. The whipping of Jesus is very intense and cruel. Some may may feel uneasy. This is a rare gem that take the viewer to look in depth for this subject.
The Unforgivable (2021)
Sandra Bullock at her best besides "Speed"
An in depths look about forgiving and relationships. Good story telling and fast paced. Best to watch repeated times to understand more due to flashbacks of the main character. Highly recommended .
The Courier (2019)
Enjoyable action flick
Even after reading much bad reviews , I decided to purchased a copy of Blu Ray from
Amazon. I was pleased with the action and straight forward storyline. This is the first time that I saw Olga Kurylenko gave such good action performance.
A Dog's Way Home (2019)
It leaves me thinking about cause and effects of life.
A story about a dog making it's way back to the owner. What strikes me most this that little cat it saved turns out to make it's day in the most critical moment.
The sheriff that help her in one way or another during the ending.
Very meaningful story about life and the choices we take. I watched on a flight to Norway from Singapore and decided to order it on Blu Ray and enjoy it in comfort of my house.
The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)
Labour of Love and Sweat.
This is an excellent example Scorsese's willpower to do what he felt is right by going against the odds. The production of this film came to a stop because of some protests and it almost cannot see the daylight. You will appreciate this film as it brings the viewer to look at Jesus Chirst in a different angle. One can feel the pain that Jesus had, the moment he was carrying the cross and finally nailed to it. Willem Dafore was like made to play the role of Jesus in this film. The Last Temptation of Christ is a human story as well as a story of faith. I am sure that this film will be viewed by generations after generations and a test of individual openiness.
The Cove (2009)
Watch the ugly side of mankind.
I wish to thank for those involved in producing and bring this film to the public. I believe there are those who tried to stop this film from surfacing to the mass market. At least, your effort pays in the end. As this film was seen by millions and receive good respond. At least, I am one of them. Dolphins are not the only victims, sharks are killed for the fins, whales are hunt for research as an excuse, tiger for skin, even other animals are captured for circus show. As humans which considered as on top of the food chain, we harm or kill the silent ones (Animals) for greed, fun and profit. Where is our heart or feeling? Is this to satisfy one's desire is enough to explain for this killing? We are not the only one living on this earth and showing kindness to those defenseless animals will make us better and kinder.
Sharkwater (2006)
Finally , someone has done something right to Sharks.
Rob Stewart and his team (Paul Watson,Patrick Moore etc) has the courage to exposed the ugly side of mankind i.e. Greed, mindless and selfishness. For those who hunt sharks for fins are greed and selfish as the eco system in the ocean are upside down. Clips showing human cutting fins from live sharks and throwing back into the water and left to die. Rob and his team has did the right thing by speaking for the sharks and protecting the ocean. If this goes unchecked, one day this world will end not because of God but ourselves. Even if we stop this practice now, it may be a little too late but at least something has been done. A lot of people take things for granted and one of the reason is the lack of such eye and mind opening movie available. This show goes hand in hand with another movie titled "The Cove". Please watch it and think about it. Time to Change our habits for the better.
RED (2010)
Never too old to please.
Time will tell whether an actor or actress can still hold water or not. In this case, it is proved that this movie work out well. The story is simple but it is very entertaining. With all giving their best performance. The action is not as top notch as compared with some other action movies but it has it's selling point for those who like action mixed with a bit of humor. It is a good ending except for a losing one of them which is shooted. I have purchased the Blue Ray Movie-only version, the picture and sound is good. Please check this out, i am sure that you will not find cheated and waste of time. I am sure that this will become a timeless treasure generations to come.
