Bad TV movie

This is so terribly acted, they do and say everything that nobody does in real life.it makes you want to start literally screaming The TV movie feel is there from the start so don't expect much. However the awful story is original. I just can't understand the high scores i really can't,hey i will give any low budget film a chance especially looking at the glowing reviews but this simply isn't the case. This is a bad movie and should be compared to the likes of a badly acted soap opera. Fair play to caleb landry (his part was a stand out acting piece) but as for the rest of them well .......i'm thinking taco bell advertisements at best. Just such a disappointing movie and i must add...an IMDb disappointment,because i followed the scores when i should have spotted this tripe a mile off with the cast alone. Pure and simple this isn't worth watching.

Educational

Being a non-believer myself i found it a tough watch yet very educational. I myself like the Japanese believe in the natural world and the pure physics/science of this whole planet and universe. To be so loyal to a belief from for-fathers is something in my own mind i respect but can not tolerate.the barbaric lengths humans would go too to deny others their beliefs is totally wrong. To believe in something with no reward or proof or to dedicate a life to higher presence is beyond my comprehension.certain elements of this movie gave me a sort of blind leading the blind viewpoint. Such a well acted and written story with very good screenplay and understanding of a certain eastern toleration of faith was very educational. I didn't expect this from martin Scorsese. If your interested in learning and culture or have a belief in Christianity or Buddha this movie should be a good watch for you. It was long winded but in my eyes needed to be. A very well crafted movie where halfway through i could have sworn i was watching something made from a whole different decade,its not going to be everybody's choice of film but never the less should be taken for what it is once viewed.

I suppose the actors must have took the budget money for this movie because it is so cheaply done, i realise a film is only as good as its story but this just isn't the case. Its not well written and the acting is bland and tedious. You can tell an Oscar nominated movie a mile off. Usually they are long and boring like this,however on the odd occasion one can be brilliant. I am guessing the high score are for the drama itself all be it very boring. I love great movies and having seen the scores and loving casey afflecks previous work i thought i would love this. I really hand on heart couldn't wait for it to end, hey thats just my opinion.

A very true and realistic understanding of how the "system" works. Probably nothing will change in real life on how the benefits system is run or handled,this powerful take on honest people falling on hardtimes needed to be made. The people portrayed in this movie are not scum but are forced down a road of worry and confidence battering misery. A system failure for the ones who really do need the help of the services they pay into. The truth is this happens,and as sad as it is it usually gets overlooked. People need a system where they are looked at as an individual/family, not as a number and listened too for their individual circumstance. When desperation creeps in and humility and self pride,its a downward spiral of despair. Just not to be listened too and following bad protocol has been enough for people to be homeless or taking their own lives. A really good watch,highlighting true grit,spirit,help and desperation. Ken loach makes these films with messages too all,kindness isn't mandatory,some people help others and some don't. The government trys its best not to help anybody if they can wriggle out of it. AWFUL.

American Honey (2016)

Worst I've ever seen

This is a terrible movie, i have been watching low budget and high budget films over the past 20 years and merit some of the benefits like a great story from the lower budget ones,however this movie is full of idiots listening to idiotic music making horrible life choices and basically acting like the scum of the earth. These youngsters have no morals or respect for anything or one other than themselves. Anyone who answered a door to these morons or giving them money must be a weak dumb person,and that's what these morons pray on. There is no point to the story and no point in what they do. Its awful,the direction is even worse and as for shia labeouf. Shia has done some serious rubbish and i mean rubbish,the man likes to think he's mr cool but he is anything but,his acting talent is not that bad but he hasn't had a movie script worthy enough to prove himself. This is truly the worst film i have seen in the last 10 years, and these idiots in it and the direct should just go away from the movie business and realise there are people out there who are a lot more talented than them, who ever wrote this or funded it is one of those idiots who gave them money at the door. Cheap,bad acting,worse music,deadbeats, a recipe for trash.

After the first episode im already hooked.a great starter to set the scene on whats to come. Tom hardy plays an absolutely ruthless nutter who seems very unafraid of anything or one dead or alive.the thing is this is really well made,well acted and visually stunning.in this day and age we are lucky to have such a great actor in tom hardy. Enjoy it was worth the wait. Great to watch on the bbc too(no adverts)! This will surely be the greatest mini series of 2017. There's a tension and raw talent cast and when mixed with a brilliant story you cant really go wrong. MASTERCLASS. After the first episode i can only see the next 7 getting more exciting

The Girl on the Train (2016)

I have been on IMDb for a number of years and always rate the movies i watch. I have not written many reviews,however i think i needed to write this one. This film is brilliant. I haven't read the book but the story was excellent and having read reviews i am disappointed with the negative reviews of this masterclass in story and film making. Do not be put off folks, this was a real thriller mystery and deserves a big 9.the acting was superb,and having been in a drunken state myself for a time they couldn't have put it more realistic. Enjoy its really good, please check my review scores before taking my opinion,i don't like crap as you will see.

Lost River (2014)

poor all round

i was looking forward to this as i like the entertaining art-house(weird and wonderful) types of film. having seen the scores i thought well the sypnosis sounds great. having said this i thought the movie was truly awful,violent for no reason and b-movie standard. its got a few moments where you may think this is cool but all round its trash. it was almost like watching a stage play that had lots of storys jumbled together.definitely a downer film,nothing much for anyone to smile about! at its best moments its average.i gave it a 6 purely for the merit of gosling both directing and writing it...the visuals were well put together! the story seemed very disturbing for someone to think up and put down on paper! all in all its a turkey. i hope gosling learns from this and makes an entertaining more happier film in the future.

300: Rise of an Empire (2014)

should have left it alone

don't get me wrong rise of an empire is watchable and the story's not that bad! the lead actors not bad either and an impressive eva green. the problem is its not as well made the fight scenes with the cgi are laughable, the whole feel and visuals of the movie do not compare to the first 300 shame really as i was looking forward to it! its almost as its the b-movie! although this is my personal opinion i think the 300 original fans will agree that this film is just by no means as good as the first. i give it a 6 purely because it is watchable. enjoy, (but you probably won't). hopefully there is a lesson to be learnt here!,if the sequel is not done by the original director then it wont be like the first in which you enjoyed so much because of the style,camera angles,dialogue etc!. 300 rise of an empire like 102 Dalmatians should never have been made.

its a shame people won't watch this because they think its foreign. there is no dialogue just a great score and sound effects, the insects do speak in there language which anyone with half a brain can work out! the cross animation with real world looks stunning! this will slowly become an all time great when the masses slowly catch on. great fun for children and adults alike,having said that young children may find bits a bit too sad! its a clever story of kindness,bullying,friendship,and war! all i can say is give it a chance and you will be very glad you did! its not cheaply done and could be compared to the outstanding visuals of a pixar movie! enjoy!!!!

firstly i was starting to give up on low budget movies.. this has restored my faith! macon blair deserves an Oscar for his performance in this revenge film not often do i see an actor play such an accurate role as a bumbling baffoon on a warpath!,his acting was amazing doing acting exactly like any amateur with a gun or real life vendetta who's not military! blue ruin is the Best movie i have seen in 2014 so far by a long way i will not give any spoilers! this film is a must see and maybe a a-list actor in the making with maicon blair brilliant! i did'not think they made movies like this anymore well they do enjoy! hopefully this movie will get the credit it deserves on Oscars night which it probably wont cos we all know why

This film is a total waste of carbon! People starving in the world and yet thes people seem to love wasting money and good oxygen don't let the ratings fool u! I seriously could make a better movie on my ipad! Just give up and get a real job! Im sorry but its just a total waste of blood and organs! No spoilers because the director actors have done that already! Seriously don't waste your time on this Its just wrong! These actors would be lucky to get parts as customers in a taco bell ad! Sorry to everyone involved in the film but the truth hurts! Hopefully you will now find a different employment and make this world a better place Good luck

Primer (2004)

simply the best time travel film ever made

if this was big budget it would be spoilt. the whole feeling and cheapness of the cameras and really unknown cast make this film what it is.the story is so real in a sense you feel you would probably do what they actual ended up doing.the confusion leads to the viewer thinking constantly while trying to keep up with the complex and fast driven ride! I cant rate this movie high enough its simply brilliant film making. David Sullivan plays a fantastic role as does shane carruth who both you couldn't imagine anyone else filling there shoes! I love the old time travel genre and if you do too this will be right up your street. personally I think 200 years from now people will watch primer and think what an amazing piece of work,the downside is this film gets nowhere near the recognition it deserves.if you haven't seen it!what are you waiting for!EXCELLENT

complex and a brain teaser

like a previous film by shane carruth I seem to lose track of whats actually happening in the movie.you have to work a lot out yourself because his movies are so complex!.I may have to watch this again to try to figure out a few things!.if you have not watched this movie its visually stunning and a great score but some may think it verges on the ridiculous.still having said that the two films he has made leave you thinking more than any movies I have ever watched!

shane carruth holds a very rare talent in modern day film making! so rare in fact that nothing comes close in this era of terrible commercial films, If you haven't watched primer then watch that too! thanks upstream color for a great take on such a great story!
