Halloween Ends (2022)
What a freaking mess..(this review is hard for me)
I'm a huge Halloween fan. I was born the year the original came out so I have literally grown up with this franchise.
My franchise summary: love the first 2. People hate on Halloween 2 sometimes but I think it is a great continuation from the original. I like Halloween 3 and kindof wish the series went to an anthology. I really enjoyed 4-6 even though they were quirky in a sense. H2O was a disappointment but it not entirely a disaster. Resurrection was terrible and the worst in the franchise. Thr Rob Zombie movies were good in their own way. At least he showed an alternate version that stayed true to the basic idea of the monster. I really enjoyed 2018 Halloween. I though it was a well written and smart way to reintroduce the series to the original. Halloween Kills is a mirror to Halloween 2 in that it may have not been a necessary sequel but it just enhances the violence and evil of Michael Myers.
Halloween Ends sucks. No way to sugarcoat it. We don't even see any part of Michael until over 39 minutes into the movie and that's just for 30 seconds. Then again around the 55 minute mark for about 2 minutes. Then 1:15 in for another minute.
It's not until 1:32 into the movie that we see Michael out and about in Haddonfield. That's crazy. Halloween is supposed to be Michael Myers terrorizing Haddonfield. Michael Myers killed 1 person that was brought to him and held down, 1 person a legit "Myers" way and he finished off 1 person that was almost dead anyway. So give him 2.5 kills this movie, only 1 unassisted? That's just not the Halloween I grew up with.
Why spend 70% of the movie showing us that evil can somehow be transferred and understood by similar humans just to have the other one die like he has no bearing on the movie at all. Its basically Zombies Halloween 2 all over again. The celtic angle in Halloween 6 was much more enjoyable than this.
I'm just sitting here so disappointing and heartbroken over what I just watched. I'm serious, what an absolutely terrible way to end such an iconic character. The writers somehow pulled off erasing all movies except the original and gave us a really good sequel in 2018 and a not so bad follow up or extension in 2021. How the hell did they mess this up so bad. I know I'm rambling but I'm just in awe of how terrible the movie is. The only thing good is about 10 minutes near the end and that's it. I'm going to give it 4 stars because of those 10 minutes along with Jamie Lee Curtis did a good job.
I'm just so mad
I'm just so sad.
Fall (2022)
Surprisingly Good
Fall is one of those films where I had low expectations. It may be horrible or it may be decent but it could not possibly be good. It is good. I know, some things just don't make real good sense but then again, it is a movie. Acting is good and story comes off believable, maybe besides the blonde having god-like strength in some parts.
It even manages to throw in a twist which was unexpected. I really enjoyed the mix of buddy movie/thriller/mild horror/adventure all in one. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys any of those genres. It's much better than any of the trapped in water movies.
Nope (2022)
Wasn't expecting much from reviews but.....
It was really good. Not a great movie, but really good. Acting and casting was outstanding. If you don't like loose ends and need a "riding off in the sunset" ending, you may hate it. If you like to read into what a movie is trying to say behind its on-screen objective, this is for you. Keke Palmer stole the screen and Michael Wincott was the icing on the cake.
I'm not sure why so many are saying it's a bad movie. My opinion, but it's twice the movie that "Us" is. I like what Peele is doing in his movies but I really hope he does an actual SCARY horror movie next. He has the talent to do something different but really scare and amaze the audience.
The Night Watchmen (2017)
I was expecting a lot worse
While not on the level of Slither, this is not a bad low budget horror comedy. Acting was good, there was a "story" and it was actually funny for the most part.
Attack of the Unknown (2020)
Nope!
I grew up with Tara Reid and she's still hot as ever, but that's the only good thing I can say about this waste of time. Bad story, bad acting, bad...you name it.
Leave No Trace (2018)
Didn't want to watch it, but I couldn't turn it off
This is a very emotional and elegant movie. It's simplicity and flow are seemless. Acting is top notch and the actors never seem to overshadow the entire story, which is both sad and real.
Cold Skin (2017)
It's OK, not a waste of time
Beautiful movie, good acting, but too many questions and plot holes.
I See You (2019)
Different kind of movie, but good
A pretty good thriller with interesting twists. Acting was good and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Not bad, just WAY too many characters.
Trying to satisfy so many characters in the last 20 minutes is just too much. It's not a bad movie by any means but it does feel a bit like episode 3. I have always felt the reason the original trilogy worked so well was because we only cared about 10 characters and it never varied into more than 2 (sometimes 3) stories at a time.
