Sholay (1975)
A true Indian classic
Sholay is arguably one of the most complete movie ever made in India, during its release it was panned by critics and everyone expected it to flop but word of mouth reviews made it into one of the biggest success in Indian history it ran for 286 weeks in one theater in Mumbai also it ran for 50 weeks in 50 cities in India, In the 80s and 90s its claimed that there is not a single Indian who has not watched this movie, I have watched it at least twenty times, many people know almost all the dialogues in the movie by heart Dharmendra and Amitabh Bacchan play convicts with a heart of gold who are recruited by Sanjeev Kumar who lost his entire family to capture dreaded bandit "Gabbar Singh" played by Amjad Khan alive, they are supported ably by Jaya Bhaduri and Hema Malini as female leads, I feel that you cannot review a film like Sholay, you have to watch it to know it
