Nuclear Now (2022)
Joe Rogan recommended
I don't know what the advertisement process is for documentary films, but I heard about this film on Joe Rogan's podcast. #1992 with the director Oliver Stone. And it did not disappoint. It's Oliver Stone, so the quality of the film is not in question. I really liked how the film acknowledges the potential for the viewer to have bias, based on Hollywood version of events. And then helps the viewer walk through actual facts. At the End, I think I'm with everyone that can't wait for the Next Version of Technology for power what ever that night be (crashed UFO secrets???). But until then because the issue is so important. We need to proceed on facts and not disillusioned beliefs.
The Rookie: Feds (2022)
Someone forgot was a Rookie is.
I love the Original Rookie, even though it signaled no Firefly return.
The writers forgot what a Rookie is; someone new, learning, motivated but still unsure of themselves, discovering the difference between Academy and Real life. Trying to balance this new career and ultimately lifestyle.
The Rookie Feds = "I'm top, no one can touch me, and I'm going to do what i want to do....as a new hire" Which brings a bigger question. If the LAPD Rookies can be fried for almost anything, but the Fed Rookies are running around running amuck without consequences???? Maybe we should defund the FBI.
They have love the soul of the original banking off the name. But watch i'm sure this review like the others will be "Filtered" soon.
Bill Burr Presents: Friends Who Kill (2022)
writers for show with decreasing viewership
A group of comedians that were available because they suck.
Bill Burr starts off with Bill Burr saying Bill Burr stuff. And if your familiar with his work, there is no shock to what he says. The only shock is it was funny.
But then he introduces the first in the "line up" , and gave the accolades of writing for late night and once preforming for the President. My Immediate thought was..... writes for late night.... you mean the shows with a dropping viewership and horrible pro Pfizer dance routines???? People are fleeing from these shows faster than the Oscars. And Michelle Wolf proves why. Without giving spoilers even the live audience who were warmed up and probably given alcohol weren't laughing anymore.... like if it wasn't being filmed verge of booing.
Naturally the following comedians could pull out a chuckle here and there. But the scene and mood had been set
If you like Bill Burr (I do) please skip this misstep of a "special". And netflixs need to burry this in it's archives.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Kept the good and Left out the bad.....for now
Enterprise was fun, just like Batman Begins was fun to watch the steadfast crew still figuring it out and not everything has been "invented yet". Which is why i thought Discovery was going to be cool. However between ignoring Canon.and filling it with Woke nonsense, Discovery is like the 4th Leathal Weapon best to forget it was ever made.
Creators, Writers, Fans, have already laid out a good morel and compelling story for the series......all they got to do with put it on screen. Yes I'm talking about Member Berries and Fan appeasement......it okay it will be a lot of fun.
Hopefully Strange New Worlds follow this path laid out, and and stick to the 50 years of history and Canon, instead of adding this weeks twitter outrage.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Action film that we love
If you grew up on the action films of the 80s and 90s where reloading is sometimes optional, you'll love this film. Chris Pratt brings us a character that is relatable and grounded. There is no extreme left/right issues being pushed.... Which is why the critics will hate it. It does touch a little on PTSD which I think is important. Without spoilers this is a complete movie, it answers all the questions about the aliens, no lingering time travel issues and no open ended obvious sequel endings. It's like 2 hours 14 mins so give your self time to watch it on a big TV and enjoy.
Amy Schumer: Growing (2019)
If you thought the Last Special was bad.....downhill
I feel bad for anyone that paid money to see this live. If you to stream it, then it's like Thank God this was "free"...... Growing is a perfect example of Doesn't Age Well. Amy Schumer early comedy was funny in clips, and few min bits. But for anything longer than 10 mins, this comedy just don't have the "chops". Thats the best way to explain the last two specials (bombing). She got popular with little clips and bits, pandered to low hanging fruit in the first special......BUT any kind of long term longevity is not there. right now she is banking on her pregnancy, and initial marriage quips to fill the gap of Slut/pussy humor/uncomfortable abortion jokes/fat eating routine. It's not good, it's not funny, and many times slightly uncomfortable. I hate to rate this 1 star now, because the next special you know will be all about how horrible parent she is (not saying she will be a horrible parent, but that is how the jokes will be written), and how big her pussy is now. So i hate to use the 1 star now, because the future could be so much worse.
The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)
Best Film to showcase real Feminism
This is the Best Film to showcase real Feminism. Everything that requires skill is done by the men, while the women just fumble or dumb luck through the situation. From the Cafe where the agent does all the fighting, uber driver because the girls can't drive a stick shift, etc etc etc.....Then at some point the women try to take credit/self affirmation for surviving. Best part it's right in front of their faces and don't/can't even see it. truly funny film.....although attempting to do both front and rear male nudity was diffidently pushing it.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Wont be one more than a season
I was going to give Discovery and chance, but then I saw their take a knee protest..... So I say screw them. (don't crap where you eat). I love Star Trek. There were some many entertaining possibilities for a new show, but they decided to allow people in the Hollywood liberal bubble infuse their ideology and came up with a concept this new drive system. One of the things that made Enterprise good (killed by long arch story lines) was the trail and error and emerging of "tech" we all knew and loved from previous shows being used for the first time. Discovery in the time line has all those tech things figured out and shows a confident well equipped Star Fleet. So the intrigue is gone. Not a problem because you have the war with the Kilgons....that could be really interesting, i show worth watching. BUT they decided to add this anywhere bio drive thing. they could have done an "advanced prototype ship kind alike Voyager...but no they added something most viewers would not recognize as Star Trek. Don't invest in this show, it will not be on for more than 1 season. #FlopTrek
On the other hand Orville is rather entertaining. I actually look forward to the upcoming episodes every week. Although I wished they moved on from Cannabis Themed jokes (just over played), the story matched the humor and better special effects than I thought would come from a spoof/satire comedy.
