Black Widow (2021)
Good and fun MCU movie. Exactly what we need right now.
I honestly don't understand people giving this movie low scores and pissy comments. On visuals and audio alone, the movie deserves a 5.
Anyway... It was wonderful to se Scarlett back as our beloved Natasha Romanoff. Florence Pugh was an amazing breath of fresh and fun air in the MCU and all in all, it was a good stand alone flick that gave me exactly what I wanted (and actually more laughs than I thought I would have): entertainment. Don't walk in expecting to se Endgame 2.0. Sit down, enjoy the new interpretation of Nirvanas Smells like Teen Spirit in the intro and just let yourself be engulfed in the universe we know and love.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
Good ol' family fun.
I Saw Sonic yesterday, with my 10 year old son and we both enjoyed ourselves. Fun and entertaining story with a splash of good old Jim C. It was wonderful to see him back in action with some of his trademark (albeit more controlled now) zaniness. Sonic himself was well animated, sweet and funny. So add all that up and you have a good hour and a half of family fun
Knives Out (2019)
Entertaining and well executed.
Good, solid, fun movie. I was entertained all the way through. Well worth a watch.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Best Star Wars movie since Return of the Jedi!
What a wonderful ending for the Skywalker saga. This movie gave me everything I wanted and hoped for. It wraps up the storylines and gives you closure. The twists it takes are good (one in particular blew me away) and while some of the fan service is in your face, it's good and most of it quite subtle. I've been a Star Wars fan since the 80's and I really enjoyed this conclusion.
I have to say, giving this movie 1/10? What the Hell is wrong with you?! Based on the effects alone, the movie deserves a 4. Even if you're not a fan and don't care for the story.. 1? Seriously?? It makes me sad that people try do derail it just because it's Star Wars.
Watch the movie. Let yourself get swept away in the story, the score and a galaxy far far away, one last time.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
A good ending, all things considered
A good ending to a great series. Some loose ends and one very strange choice of exclusion, however, for me, it ended as good as it could. Well done.
Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
Solid episode with some good twists
This episode is being slammed for the wrong reasons, in my opinion.
I liked it. It felt like GoT again with a lot of banter, twists and turns, and building suspense. Sure some of the dialogue was sub-par, but if you let yourself get engulfed in the episode in stead of being a naysaying pessimist, only looking for the holes in the cheese, so to say, you will enjoy it, as I did. And it does have a good WTF moment, something I have missed.
The caveat I have, is the sense of the pace being slightly rushed, it seems a little sloppy, however certainly not worth a 1 or 2 star rating.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
It gave me what I came for, entertainment.
The movie was entertaining and visually stunning. It was nice to see Newt and co. again, however the two standout performances were from Johnny Depp and Jude Law as Grindelwald and Dumbledore. Well rounded in well played. The special effects were very captivating. 7/10 because the movie gave me what I came for, I was entertained for two hours but I was not blown away.
Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Good, fun entertainment. Solid follow up
Ant-man and the wasp gave me exactly what I came for, entertainment. Fun, not too heavy and just entertaining to watch. Enjoyable characters, a few new additions and a post credit scene to tie it together. I honestly didn't expect to be blown away and I wasn't, but I still, really enjoyed the movie.
PS Michelle Pfeiffer still looks amazing!
