Feng huang nu sha xing (1981)
Saw 2 versions on the net -- SPOILERS are necessary for clarity
Each version has different extended scenes, unique to that version, of gore from the several different revenge murders committed by Hsiao-Fen Lu.
In one version, Hsiao-Fen Lu fails at killing her last two assailants, and she ends up in prison for life. In the other version, she succeeds in killing all her assailants, and overall, there is a tiny bit more sleaze. In this better version, Hsiao-Fen Lu confronts and kills her final assailant inside the house that her erstwhile fiancé had built for her before he left her because she was assaulted. At the end, we see Hsiao-Fen Lu standing silently inside this house at the window, staring out into the empty darkness of night. Sirens are heard off in the distance as the camera slowly moves away from the house, leaving her alone.
The Satan Killer (1993)
Jaw drooping ineptitude
My theory is that the makers of this inept mess did so on purpose as some kind of lark.
In spite of the absurdity of the story the movie never quite rises to the level of camp. Still, there is some small measure of entertainment in watching this slop.
Atrapadas (1984)
Worth the watch
Brutal and exploitative, but the production and the story are a cut above the usual W. I. P. Movie. Has actual tender moments.
Tainted Love (1996)
Fun
A cut above the rest of the soft core T&A's dressed up as murder mysteries because it has a lighter tone. Sure much of the story is ridiculous as are some of the characters, but that's the charm in this one. The cop action is fun. End twist was done well. Long cat fight at the end was ridiculous and fun, just like the whole show.
Alone (2020)
WaitWhat
How does any person who has seen any Drama, Thriller consider this movie anything less then zero?
Let Him Go (2020)
BIG miss - what could have been.
Boy, this movie is something else. The way characters are revealed, in the beginning, is so wonderfully subtle (at least in modern movie terms.)
In the beginning the dialogue is great. An example of which gives nothing away because the context and the sound track is much of the grandeur: "Sometimes that's all life is Margaret. The list of what we've lost".
In the beginning the movie seemed more than a righteous revenge story with violence. At one point the movie became just that in a stupid and ultimately unsatisfying way.
In the DVD extras someone mentioned Greek Tragedy. OK, Where is my catharsis?
Kindred Spirits (2019)
Be warned!
No possible way that everyone was so incredibly stupid as to be so easily manipulated by so obviously a flake. The untrustworthy nature of Sadie's character was spelled out for all to see from the start. In order for dominoes of this story to work, the viewer must disregard too much reason. Sad, because the first half had the makings of an interesting story.
