Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (1989)
If you are looking for something serious and intellectually stimulating, move along
I don't know how anyone could possibly read the title and expect anything but the cheesy delight that is Canible Women of the Avocado Jungle of Death. Seriously, a wild jungle on the edge of San Bernardino? The over-the-top feminists vs chauvinist trope? Sit back enjoy and don't take it seriously, the only time I have really enjoyed Bill Maher.
The People (1972)
Sometimes things work backwards
I never heard of Zenna Henderson until I saw this film. I never would have been aware of her until I saw this movie. Though the stories differ from the movie, my love of the movie led me to a love of the stories. I have had this happen several times, so I am willing to give leeway to the film industry and their, shall we call it re-tooling?, If I discove such gems as The People
The X Files: Fire (1993)
Not the best, not the worst
Ok I'm not from England, but I have known British people and watch a lot of British TV. I know that at least three of the actors are from England (Amanda Pays and Mark Sheppard are from London and the old man Beatty is from Manchester) so I am struggling with the previous review criticizing the accents, I would have thought if the British actors didn't like the way they were speaking or accents used, they would have spoken up and said something. That said, and that I really enjoy Mark Sheppard's acting, I think this is one of my least favorite episodes.
Columbo: Columbo Likes the Nightlife (2003)
One of the worst episodes
I am slightly different than some of the others who disliked this episode, I love Columbo but also like Crystal Method (the music group whose music was used in this episode) very much, but it *was* too loud *and* over used. The villans are unsympathetic and not very bright making them a very lame foil for Columbo and not very intresting. The very few amusing parts all concentrated at the beginning. The villans spend the whole show in one of two modes, paniced yelling or dead cold. I was tempted to be sympathetic in the beginning, because it was implied that the ex-husband was an abusive jerk, but she looses sympath less than five minutes later when the second death, the actual murder, happens and her reaction is completly cold. Then they rehashed a couple of old plot lines, the need to hide an accidental death for money to clear for an investment and the death of a mob family member with the mob bosses wanting something done about it or *they* will do something about it. There were no stand out performances or moments to make this even a memorable episode. As a swan song for Columbo I really wish they had left it with the previous movie, it was much better all around. I doubt I will ever inflict this episode on myself again.
House M.D.: Detox (2005)
Response to jakesmutt
Filming order and airing order can differ this may have been the 12th episode filmed but it *was* the 11th episode aired so it is 1.11 due to airdate. Some series even mix up episodes worse than this.
