Elsbeth (2024)
Columbo ain't got nothing on her! 🙄
Annoying, redundant, superficial and boring. Why would a worldly, intelligent, accomplished, middle-aged person be gobsmacked over tourist culture in NYC coming from Chicago? Unless she is definitely on the Spectrum, her wide-eyed infatuation with big city minutiae is off-putting at best.
The way Elsbeth walks unimpeded onto, throughout and over a Crime scene should give everybody pause; as an experienced defense attorney should would have visited 100s of crime scenes and understood how questions of preservation of evidence can be attacked by the opposition.
Also, wouldn't REAL New Yawkers tell her to eff off (in a network television way)? Most people (ESPECIALLY bad guys) would stop engaging her!
Sniper: Rogue Mission (2022)
Bad, awful, terrible "movie"
Terrible movie. Bad pacing, awful dialog, shoddy and unimaginative framing, shaky and confusing cinematography and
THE. PERIOD. WORST. PERIOD. FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY...EVER.
The tone went from wacky almost sitcom silliness, to deadly, bloody sequences, to crappy heist scenes.
The stagy super hero poses and the absolutely ANNOYING acronym for the super secret black ops team at the end only serves to incapsulate how low budget and low quality this hackfest is. The acting was completely subpar; the "director" even made Dennis Haysbert seem uneven and uncertain in a spy thriller; THIS MAN WAS SNAKE DOC IN THE UNIT!!!! The other characters were so cookie cutter and pointless they are beyond review; the exception being Jocelyn Hudon as MARYJANE kinda stood out; as the voice for the murdered and abused women she articulated their plight well, her exposition was pretty good. The level of suspension of disbelief required for her revenge at the end, however, was too far to go. (Why was the bad operator walking, when she had killed the ambo drivers? Take the ambo to civilization, dump it, disapper!)
Terrible film, waste of time and money, sloppily done production.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Utter time waste.
I just don't get why now one who read this script or watched dailies thought that this worked. Alice is so annoying and stupid I didn't mind if she were killed. She is supposed to be the hero and resolution but her walking around agog at the end of the movie after being told "go" for the hundredth time should have been a directive to the viewer.
As always Chris Pine is mesmerizing, and Harry Styles is truly a good actor. The ending was ridiculous. Still not sure why she stopped at the end to have all the men in red capture here but then again she should have had plenty of time to get away if she hadn't walked slowly around looking like a dim bulb.
False Positive (2021)
WTactualF?!!!
I love Pierce Brosnan and he was about the only thing I liked in this movie with I why it got an extra star, other WTF with this?! I mean what is the actual point. It was not helpful enough to be informative, It was not meaningful enough to be important. And the ending...don't get me started. This had too many good actors in it to be this bad. The pregnant women were Stepford and everything was tediously slow and anti-climatic.
What was the scene with the dark hallway? What house is that dark? Doesn't matter it didn't have any payoff.
Is this movie supposed to scare women from IVF, doulas or motherhood?
The Consultant (2023)
What is the purpose of this
I don't understand what to feel about a series where I don't care or like any one in it. It is remarkably nihilistic which I wouldn't mind if there were some payoff. But I don't see it.
I don't understand how NOBODY says no to Regus. Hide a body, Sure. Steal an elephant Sure Leave a disabled co-worker locked out. Sure. Beat up your co-workers. Why not?
I watched because I thought there would be a payoff to tell assure me that I hadn't just waisted hours of my life. But no, I get to the end only to see the dufus that I hated the most eating his boss's big toe, nail and all. A waste of time IMO.
NCIS: Hawai'i (2021)
Started great, changed focus in last 5 shows 😥
Used to be a fan of NCIS, NCIS :LA. Went away from the series as streaming services created much more interesting and compelling shows. When they started in Hawaii I gave it a try since I was at the beginning. Right away, LOVED Tennant and the way she ran her crew. I was feeling the dynamic and the (slight Network style) conflicts. Never cared for the tiny fluff, Lucy and her constant love life drama (although I literally cheered when she left Kate!!!!)
Then came the crossover. Not bad action, good plot, loved the vauge backstory/one night stand...but the side smirkiness, the stupid dialog, the quips that are a staple of the other NCIS'...slipped over to Hawaii. All the stories and philosophy from Ernie, more Mooney eyes and dramatic love life stuff from Lucy. Then they corrupted the best character on the show. Tennant can't focus on a top secret highly dangerous mission without giving in to Capt. Joe and his unprofessional need for a reunion bang. I could deal with EVERYTHING including Lucy, if they just stopped being flip and forcing rom com energy on Tennant.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
Stylish, cool and violent AF
Wow, I am a very general fan of Westerns as a genre but this was beyond any recent ones for me. The cinematic precision, the interesting side stories, character development through exposition and attitude and the pacing is indicative of a Director working at a very high level with advanced talent and passion. Great acting, great sFX and incredibly entertaining.!!!
Seeing Stars (2005)
The new season of "Seeing Stars" January 2006
I have just completed work on the new season (14 episodes) and I have to say it is LAUGH OUT LOUD funny. Even accounting for creative bias, Ricky Kalmon takes regular people off the street and unleashes their inner celebrity with hilarious results. We had operators almost drop their cameras because they were laughing so hard.
The people involved were completely hypnotized or they didn't make the cut. We interview them before and after the "bits" and they are all surprised at their subconscious ability to "go there".
We used some people several times because they had the ability to go under very deeply and be adaptable to any of Ricky's crazy suggestions.
We had a talented staff of writers that would come up with gags based on popular TV shows and/or celebrity reputations or incidents.
No faking...just funny. Airing on the TV GUIDE channel.
